It's a booby prize. You don't earn it, a committe votes on it. Just like the Oscar, the Emmy, the Pulitzer or the NFL MVP. It's like a gold medal in ice skating.

A real award is one that's earned. A gold medal in the 100 meters. A Superbowl ring. You beat the next guy, period. You knocked out the champ, you scored more points, you demonstrated your superiority by observable, measurable, objective means.

Anything less is just a booby prize.

If he actually won, is it worse than Obama's Nobel? Since winning it, Obama has increased drone strikes, started a war, tried to start another, and spied on everyone. Or what about Kissinger's Peace Prize? Or the fucking E.U.'s Nobel? The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke.

putin earned it for preventing the invasion of syria. still not sure what obama did to promote world peace during his office.

Putin earned it. If you can get past the controlled US media which hates him, you will see that he is the real peacemaker. You don't hear Middle Eastern countries saying "Death to Russia". He has even made a trip to Israel. The Middle East is in Russia's backyard and they want peace unlike the US neocons who want war. Obama with all of his warmongering gets the prize for doing nothing.

Not only did he stop American/Israeli aggression against Syria, but he is also working to stop their attempts to find an excuse to attack Iran. And he put in check that punk Georgian leader (Shalikashvili? Can't remember his name) a few years back who tried to commit some aggression.
He probably deserves it more than Obama ever deserved it.

The Syria push play was pure strategic diplomacy, with Putin saving the world from going into the meat grinder which would of resulted in WW III. Let's be frank though, we all know the peace prize in general is a joke.

You really need to STFU with all that well-balanced reason. Obama might be listening!

We create heroes and villains in America. Everything has to be viewed in terms of the good/evil false dichotomy. It's so much of why modern Americans are so stupid about the rest of the world. Good on you for seeing the angles. It's too bad we can't get that kind of insight from our own media, seeing as how they have more journalistic resources at their disposal than anyone else on the planet.
