I noticed that there's no datasheet for Palermo.. thinking about making that my base for the winter (December-January) instead of Bologna like I was originally planning.

I've been to Catania four times, and although it's great, I don't like randomly running into my ex-girlfriend's 6'5 brother while I'm out trying to game other chicks (this actually happened).

Plus, I've never been to Palermo. Farthest west I've been on Sicily is Cefalù (beautiful place). Got at least 5 decent matches when I switched my Tinder to Palermo... but idk if this is because it's summertime or what.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to stay at in Palermo? An area with decent parking will be best, as I plan on renting a car while I'm there (to make weekend trips to Catania/anywhere else). If Palermo is as bad as advertised, I'll just stay in Catania and call it a day.

Was in Catania recently, my first time in Sicily (and Italy, really), and jesus, I've never seen a dirtier, more decrepit city in Europe, and I've been to quite a few. The actual architecture is beautiful, but every single street - including the piazzas and the old town right in the city center - is full of trash, graffiti, paint coming off, crumbling buildings, smell of urine, the works. I mean, I get that Sicily is poor, but look at a comparably disadvantaged region in Spain - Andalusia - and people there still care enough to make their cities - or at least the nicer parts of the cities - presentable. On top of that people were brusque and impolite, again totally different from Spain. Not planning to go back any time soon.

I thought Catania was a gritty working-class hole full of bad attitudes looking to overcharge English-speakers, but that might have just been a bad day.

In Palermo, I had an apartment in Liberta for about ten days, somewhere around Via Archimede. This is where I think most visitors would want to be. Felt pretty safe after dark, and being upscale (by Sicilian standards), was full of cafes and dark-skinned brunette 7-8s. The benches on the divided median on Via Della Liberta were full of couples making out all night. Very few tourists out that way and as you walk up to Giardino Inglese, the women rapidly become more fashionable and, probably, arrogant.

Hey guys weighing in as I have spent many summers there and come from a few hundred miles away.

Sicily is great for so many things, unfortunately banging hot chicks is not one of them!
We do have a few share of them but I highly doubt that they would have casual sex foreigners unless extremely good looking/famous etc.
If you live there obviously your chances increases once you create a social circle etc.

You have to known that in Sicily, and Italy in general, the culture is a lot about reputation and honour. People are kinda conservative still.

Also bear in mind that many women here tend to like more aggressive guys (that pick up fights, brag about mafia connections and that kind of shit).

If you are black I highly suggest you to go somewhere else for girls.
If a woman goes with a black person (especially if African) will be labelled as 'tainted' and will get a lot of shit from her family. Also guys will probably not want anything to do with her apart from banging her.

Not trying to be racist just telling things the way they are.

If you are a black American or English your chance will probably improve as you would be seen as cool. I would recommend hip hop parties and clubs around Sigonella military area, known for having girls that are into big black cocks and probably looking for an American to marry and move to the states!
