Just curious. I couldn't figure out how to do a poll.

He thinks his watch will inspire youth (just said that on CNBC - lol). Some money will be donated to the Lebron James's foundation. This seems as bad as "The Decision."

But if you had the coins, and you could throw away 50K, would you? I know I wouldn't.

Called the “Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Limited Edition LeBron James” the piece has been uniquely styled for the man himself, but is based on the standard unlimited version of current Royal Oak Offhsore timepiece. For watch lovers, the most interesting aspect of the watch is how it uniquely combines gold and gray. This color combination is rare, but clearly flattering. To accomplish this the case of the Royal Oak Offshore LeBron James is produced from 18k pink gold and titanium matched to a gray crocodile strap. Black ceramic is used for the crown and chronograph pushers.

if i had 50k that watch would be the last thing i would buy, hell skywalker did his around the world trip for three years for a little more than that.

Grew up just outside of Cleveland an hour drive, then was lucky enough for everyone involved to land in Cleveland.

Quit on his team in the playoffs. Quit on his team and bailed to Miami to play Robin to Wade's Batman. Wade is beaten up from years of abuse and finally decides to take over.

Some how a bandwagon fan of all the other traditional winning teams -- Yankees, Duke, etc. But now wants to hang out with the Ohio State football team now that they are good, even though his top college choice was Duke.

Agreed, I see nothing great about him at all, other than his natural athletic ability, which is unreal, but it seems like that is all that is there.

It's not really a LeBron James watch...like it's not his own line, it's an Audemars...one of the priciest watch brands out there. But yes, he seems pretty empty inside.

I am not sure if you are saying that in regard to him as a player or a person. If you are saying that in regard to him as a person then I don't really care but if you are talking about him as a player get real. Dude's already a top 10-12 player of all time and has a good chance to finish top 5 if he can get another 2-3 rings and 2-3 MVPs.

He is a great player, probably a good person, but comes across very mentally weak with his decisions and things he says...

No, you were the highest rated high school recruit maybe since Lew Alcindor.

If you wanna talk hoops, post there. As a person I don't really have an opinion of him. I think he's an okay guy. As a player though I don't think he's mentally weak anymore and actually has a chance to reach his potential which many thought he never would after 2011.

It's a good looking watch. Audemar is my favorite watch brand by far. I love the style. I'd buy a slightly used 15300 if I had spare change laying around.


They do these special edition type watches a lot. Sachin Tendulkar, Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli, Quincy Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sebastien Buemi, Shaquille O'Neal, Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Rory McIlroy and Jay-Z.

Watch snobs don't care about the celebrity name behind the watch, it's the brand and the watch itself that makes it collectible or not. Audemar is cream of the crop and popular athletes and celebrities like Lebron is just one of many marketing strategies that this still-family-owned and independent watch maker employs.

Another point some of you are missing. You talk like buying this is the same as spending $x amount of money to travel. Watches like this hold value pretty damn well. It may drop 10-20% max, but if you buy something that's been out a while it likely won't ever drop in value and will most likely increase. This applies to most top shelf watches. They are a store of value. Insure it and you'll be fine. You can always resell it as the luxury watch market is very liquid as long as it's not something peculiar. They're also a great way to transfer wealth across the world without being noticed

Hah. Hide and watch. Like I said, the "wealthy white man" may not be especially thrilled about the marketing tactic, but most don't give a shit if it's a Lebron James or Ludacris watch, the brand is top notch and if it's a desirable style and build of watch, it will not only sell out, but retain value.

Grew up outside of Akron. Used to watch Lebron play in highschool and AAU before he blew up. Would I welcome him back to the Cavaliers? Absolutely. Would I buy his watch or cheer for him and the Heat? Absolutely not.

On another note, as someone posted above, let's not turn this into a lebron vs. jordan or lebron vs kobe thread.

Sorry pink gold, doesn't do it for me. You put that much cash into something buy the classics that are always appropriate. Like fashion invest in the steady stuff. The kids wearing jacked up suits, these are phases and soon you have suits that look out of touch.

In the astronomically unlikely event of me ever buying an extremely expensive watch it'll be a European brand like Patek Phillipe or A Lange & Sohne, not some watch branded by a silly celebrity.

OK, I see. But still wouldn't buy it. Maybe one of their non-branded watches. Not that I'm in the market. But theoretically.

How the hell will a Audemars inspire children? I'm into watches and I think it looks decent, but if you want to inspire kids, a watch isn't the way to do it lol.
