I've been watching mexican television for Spanish immersion lately, and something that I've noticed is that you see extremely hot women on these shows in the position of anchor, or just for eye candy, and what's striking is the contrast it has with American media. There was some dorky monday morning news show that had a complete dime on there, and in telenovelas as well you see smoking hot women all over. I'm talking about girls that are extremely beautiful in every way. It's so refreshing.

Likewise, Eastern European television also shows hot girls. These cultures select the most attractive women and put them in prominent visual spots in the media, without apology, whereas in America you get the sense that these super hot girls are hidden out of sight. You almost never see them.

In American media, we rarely see dimes.

The problem is that the women that we do see aren't winning in characteristics aside from beauty (Rachel Maddow anyone?) It's like our culture just doesn't value beauty as much, and we're being forced to overvalue these average or slightly above average women.

In other societies it's completely acceptable to promote beautiful women simply for their beauty.

We used to have shows like Baywatch, but it seems like that stuff is a thing of the past. Now we have Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Miley, Nicki Minaj, etc etc.

It's funny, even actresses like Scarlet Johansson, who are usually considered total bomshells, look lastluster after you've watched enough foreign television. I rarely see a girl, especially a popular actress, pop singer, or even more minor roles, played by total bombshells. Girls that you would rate a 9/10. Go to a foreign network and you see them in greater numbers.

Great post! I noticed this too after injuring my hand and having to stay home watching movies and old TV shows. The top female stars of today would have been the boyish "sidekicks" of female leads years ago.

Example: the awful trannie-like Emma Stone ("Easy A"). How the fuck is any straight male supposed to find that man-voiced atrocity attractive? I'm a big fan of old TV shows and she reminds me of the Zelda character on a '50s show they used to run on Nick at Nite called "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis."

But Zelda was someone all the boys ran FROM not TO. And she was not the leading lady. The female lead was the hot-as-hell Tuesday Weld in her prime.

Yes gang, once upon a time this was the ideal for a female. Even if you don't like yesterday's female stars, Tuesday's hotness still burns bright:

Dead on. I've met a shit ton of stars and it's shocking how a lot of them are very average looking minus photoshop, makeup etc.

It could also be the increase in the narcissism of females.

They may be refusing to patronize movies and shows with truly beautiful women in them........

envy, ego, hating..... and the studios are responding to this. - American women are intimidated by truly hot women.

Kate Upton for example: pleasant looking, but no stunner .....

The selection process is more ambition and politics driven than when men with good taste decided who got to be featured.

It takes the aggression and stamina of a fucking Formula 1 driver for an actress to survive in Hollywood unless she's wiling to fuck her way upward, and even then she'll look more hardened than 60's actresses.

Extra 10-15 pounds is considered "hot" now, on the other hand fit chicks are too obsessive maybe lift too much weights and look too ripped.

Men accept much lower quality now that Whaleism is ascendant.

Agreed with soap dramas/operas. The women are always hot. Like the leading chick in Arrow is so hot. and all younger chicks in Bold and the beautiful/days of our life are incredible hot, even some of the older chicks look hot.
Horrible stories though, lol.

When I saw Man of Steel, the thing that pissed off the most about Amy Adams was her lack of make up.

He face looked wrecked, oily and discolored and I could tell she was 40 without the wrinkles. And I have a redhead fetish so that really messed with my mind.

Also the kryptonian chick resembled a man with feminine facial features...like I did not know it was a woman until I paid close attention to her voice...that was a mindfuck.

American media and its masculinization is really bad for us guys.

RVF should collaboratively write and star in a TV show, and only allow the most excellent specimens to star as actresses. There would obviously be a lot of sex and real talk involved - no PC bullshit. We would attract so many fans, just for the sheer sexiness of the actors.

There are also some pretty good writers here, so we'd probably be able to come up with some kind of story line or something, I guess...

Not only that, but many movies are specifically written to delegitimize beauty, catering to an audience of women. Anyone here see Adventureland? When I first wrote about that movie, Days of Broken Arrows chimed in (comment deleted due to a site glitch), pointing out the plot twist of Jesse Eisenberg's character rejecting Margarita Levieva for Kristen Stewart even though Stewart's character not only fucked around on him, but she is objectively uglier than Levieva.

The message is clear: "Hey ladies! You can slut around, use a guy for companionship, lie to him about how you want to 'take it slow' while another guy is fucking you, and even if he has another, more attractive woman who's interested in him, he'll still take you back!"

In NYC on the second tier channels, Ch 9 and Ch 11, the weather and sometimes the traffic chicks are usually hot with big tits. You can't really compare novelas to newscaster channels thou.

It's definitely true - female anchors on even conservative Arab and Iranian newscasts are hotter than American female talking heads. How can this be? We're supposed to be so fucking liberated.

It's pretty obvious that the Western media corporations are actively working to hire and promote women who are less attractive than the girls you see waiting tables at any decent restaurant.
