Flying has never been an issue for me, but I can certainly understand why it would be unsettling for some.

Sometimes its helpful to deal with an uncomfortable situation by imagining something absurd happening in your environment.

For example, if I am nervous about approaching a 10 in a bar I might imagine the lights turning bright white revealing her to be painted like a clown holding a balloon instead of a beer with her friends surrounding her like little kids at a carnival. Throw in batman sitting across from her chatting up the bartender (who is now the joker), Trump casually smoking a joint on the tv, and now you have yourself a real party.

This helps to pull you out of your anxious mindset, thereby increasing your sense of control and making you more in tune with your surroundings.

I'm totally fine with flying. I'm more uncomfortable with people I don't know driving a car I'm riding in.

It's obvious in how I sleep. I can sleep flying the entire flight. I can never sleep in a car.
