You perceive lesbians as off-limits, maybe, and that fuels your desire for them.

And the emphasis needs to be on "ish" about "dykeish" because some shaved headed woman wearing a man's polo and male cologne suggests attraction to gays, as in gay men.

If they are responding to your advances, they are probably not 100% lesbian. In fact, I actually think women who are 100% lesbian are extremely rare. Women psychologically, need men more than we realize.

It is well known that most humans exist on a sexual continuum( i.e. Kinsey scale).

It's not bisexuality that's the problem-you're right- lots of women are bisexual to some degree, far more so than men, and many of them are quite normal and feminine

The problem is you're cultivating an attraction to women who are trying to masculinize themselves, which is not something that should be encouraged and probably not healthy for you.

In my view, lesbians make a pitiable attempt at seeming masculine and less fuckable, especially the naturally cute ones. But they never seem to fully subvert their femininity. It's always there.

Also lots of men have the potential to be bi-sexual, but they would just never admit it. Ancient Greece for example, didn't place gays/straights into social identities.

As someone who has banged at least two straight-up, butch dyke styled women (including leg and pit hair) this year, I have a couple of theories.

There's something kinky about trolling the lesbian scene and proving with your dick that they are still women and will succomb to game.

Backing it up a little, there are certain features that, without going full-on butch, used turn me on a lot when I saw it in girls.

I used to be really into girls with short hair. I think it is because it was a sign this girl was more sexually available than others. So, to my beta'd brain, it probably registered as an easier target.

Truth is, these girls are more testosteroned, and have high sex drives.

I used to think girls could be cool in the same way that guys could be. So, bad girls used to turn me on.

I realize now that the power I saw in them was something that I wanted for me; I wanted to be the badass.

It was definitely a very pussified perspective. I still do think that cropped hair on a woman with a long feminine neck can look sexy because it shows off that neck, but for the most part, I read short hair has a clear indicator that the girl is trying to come off as more powerful and less feminine.

I find that in lesbian couples theres always a more masculine one and a feminine one in relation to each other so most of them act and look more masculine than "straight woman", it definitely wouldn't be like the porn movies suggest. But on the OPs point each to their own I suppose even though I personally wouldn't go for a genuine lesbian couple for the reasons stated above.
