I'm curious what you guys think of this. If you had shown me this article 5 years ago, I would have eaten it up like any other beta, but after spending some time in the red pill community, I see a few things I don't like.

This woman is a sergeant, which technically means she is considered by the Army to be capable of leading other soldiers in combat. I spent 4 years in the National Guard and saw some pretty disturbing promotions to sergeant, such as the lazy-eyed company clerk claiming to be part native american and smoking peyote, or the truck driver who referred to himself as a "Texas-Alabama 'coon-ass redneck, 10-4?!" The kind of guy who would refuse to drop his cigarette or beer while having a heart attack (true story).

Of course, these guys knew they weren't combat soldiers, so when we trained with them, they would often defer to those of us who were, regardless of rank. I think I would prefer this blue-collar approach over someone who wants to run in a beauty pageant so she can "empower women to overcome stereotypes and break barriers." That's the kind of attitude that gets people killed in combat.

And don't think that she could never be in a position to lead just because she's medical. As cliche' as it sounds, anything could happen. I just hope that if "anything" does happen, she relies on training and teamwork rather than prayer.

I don't know how her attitude from one field spills into another and what effects it has, positive or negative. I would be enraged if she was made Miss Kansas on the basis of her "interesting background" or "bravery" instead of looks, though. But she seems hot (if not that hot) so I don't know. Seems cool unless she gives us a reason to flame her.

Yeah, she's hot--wouldn't be outrageous if she won.

It's her declaring that "she is trying to empower women to overcome stereotypes and break barriers" and the degree to which the media eats shit like this up that irks me.

You are running because you like dressing up and having people look at you.

Didn't she choose that route because it was the best option for her available at that time and was something she wanted to do? OR did she choose to 'serve the country' by ditching all glorious opportunities she had? (meaning sacrificing for the public)

Well her Dad is a dentist so it's not like joining the National Guard was something she had to do in order to pay for college. She probably joined to continue a family tradition of military service like a lot of Southerners. She might not be an soldier in the sense of what most people would think of one but then again, neither are a lot of the male soldiers in the US Army.

She's a dentist in the National Guard, not a soldier. That's like saying the waterboy for LA Lakers has a spot on the 12 man roster.

I can't call male "soldiers" that don't have some sort of combat function "soldiers" either.

She's a dentist. End of story. She's not making a "sacrifice". 100% it's economically in her favor. I think I read she's a specialist? That means she enlisted for college tuition perks.

Even daddy would have a tough time matching the the post 911 GI bill.

She get's to put that on her resume as well.

This is purely in her interests and to her benefit. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but if she's parading around and advertising "sacrifice" I'm calling bullshit.

She's a Captain America. Its great propaganda to show America that women can be soldiers too. Now everybody sign up and an buy war bonds! Also, if your girlfriend is joining the army you'd better 'man up' and sign up too. She can promote for military service signups for at least a year after she's won the show.

If she was ugly I would have had a problem with it, but she is freaking hawt so I hope she does well.

That said, they actually ask the contestants questions and miss america judges put a lot of weight on the answers.

A family friend told me about his niece who was a prissy little brat her whole life. Her family never took her seriously, and she wanted to prove them wrong.

So what did she do? She joined the Marines, after everyone begged her not to.

She was gung-ho on proving them wrong that she was tough and could be a Marine.

Three weeks into basic training she went on hunger strike and was discharged.

Buddy of mine was in army boot camp and while I was there I was communicating with him via snail mail. About 2 months in he talked about how there was 16 girls at the beginning but now they were down to two. Also he talked about how the girls would constantly break down crying when the drill sergeant would smoke them out and how every time they had to do PT the girls would start complaining about injuries. He stated he hoped that women never get sent to the front lines.

Her Dad is a colonel in her unit I believe.

If you guys can get your foot in the door, being in a National Guard Medical Detachment is probably the best place to 'serve' in the Army if you compare the enormous benefits received with the 'sacrifice' of nine weeks of basic training, directly transferable MOS training and one weekend* a month two weeks a year of paid attendance. The permanently assigned personnel of these units seems to be 9/10th females and homosexuals, makes me wonder if they collude to help each other get assigned to these cherry units and keep straight males out.

*Guard weekends are paid equivalent to 4 - 5 days active duty.
