This is all kinda how it's supposed to work (minus getting your head blown off in Afghanistan, as a... civilian contractor? wtf?) Loyal wife who loves you for who you are, she can't have a baby so adopt a kid anyway and give him a good life, stick with each other through hell and high water, and risk everything to care for your family no matter what. That's how life is supposed to work, and the reason that you guys can't feel that is because shit's fucked up here in America and now it's not like that anymore and we're too far down the rabbit hole of bullshit being wrong.

He should have done construction or something and fucking fell off a girder or whatever and they had to pull him off of life support. The 'shot in Afghanistan' thing ruined it for me because it seemed kinda political and definitely too centered on modern times.
