I'm a huge fan of comicbooks and I have a nice stack hidden in shoebox beneath my bed. Please make some suggestions and preferably if I can find it online. You can include manga too.

In no particular order:

1) Walking Dead series

This book is so fucking gritty. So many things happen in this version than the pussy AMC one.

2) Batman: Knightfall Trilogy

Can't find anything online but I'm glad I bought the graphic novels. The first book is about Batman fighting the super criminals that escaped out of Gotham Asylum. Bane released them in order to weaken Batman so he could beat him. Batman goes through the entire graphic novel fighting old foes one after one until he faces Bane in his own mansion (he discovered who he was). In the end, Bane breaks Batman's back.

The second novel was about Jean-Paul Valley (AKA Azreal the Angel of Punishing Death) taking up the mantle of the bat and fighting Bane as well. While Azreal trains, Bane takes over the city and literally has the entire mob under his thumb. Azreal upgrades the bat suit and creates armor. Also, he's more open to killing people than Batman is. Bane and Azreal have a showdown in the end and Azreal wins. He chooses not to kill Bane.

In the third novel, Azreal goes crazy and ends up killing two people. Bruce heals from his injuries and trains with Shiva, the world's most dangerous assassin. She retrains Bruce by making him face the pupils of a master she murdered. Bruce comes out on top and regains his confidence. He puts on his old costume and fights Azreal. In the end, he wins.

3) Marvel Masterworks: Spiderman

The old school versions have been compiled into graphic novel volume series. It's basically Peter Parker learning how to juggle his superpowers with his responsibilities at his job, as a grandson, and boyfriend. For an old comicbook, it is very well-written and there are some emotional scenes that still stick with me.

4) Usagi Yojimbo

The mutha fuckin' rabbit samurai! The story is historical fiction, based on the clan wars era in Japan but with animals as characters. Fucking brilliant! Usagi lost his master so he becomes a ronin and travels the land helping people.
