Vice reporter spends week at Femen "Training Camp" ahead of protest..
Can't embed the video (it's on the Vice website) so here's the (NSFW) link:
http://www.vice.com/en_ca/vice-news/feme...m-in-paris
Also I've included some excerpts from the written article that were just too good not to share:
http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/my-weeken...-feminists
Quote:When I arrived, the Paris HQ was plastered with banners from previous demos – one that read "Sextremism" in bright red paint covered an entire wall. A few members were trying to decide on the best slogan for the massive new banner, which a girl called Oksana was already decorating with paintings of topless Femen activists. The reason for the extended deliberation was because of a heated discussion over whether "Nazi factions" should be spelled with or without an "s" at the end. No one's going to pay you much attention in the protest world if you mess up your spelling.
Quote:Prolonging the whole thing even further, Inna Shevchenko – one of the original Ukrainian Femen members – then argued that the slogan ”Femen Action Against Nazi Factions” wasn’t strong enough. Inna started up the French branch of Femen in September, 2012 after fleeing Ukraine because, in solidarity with Pussy Riot, she'd chainsawed through an eight-metre-tall crucifix in Kiev's main square. Which is something the Russian government presumably wouldn't be too happy about when you consider that Pussy Riot were jailed for simply performing a "punk prayer" in a cathedral – a far cry from intentionally destroying a public piece of religious iconography with a massive serrated saw.
Inna was clearly the leader, but the cry of, "Let's make a democratic decision!" was frequently blurted out as the group tried to conclude whatever particular thing it was they were trying to conclude. After various suggestions had been tossed around and subsequently shut down – if not by Inna, then by the other girls – we were left standing in an awkward, angry, silent void. The vibe was tense.
Quote:The following day, I was invited to one of Femen's weekly sextremist training sessions. As I walked in, the 11 gathered girls – most of them wearing jean shorts and Femen tank-tops – were standing in a circle furiously screaming their mottos: "Go rape yourself!", "Nudity is freedom!", "Fuck your church!", "Fuck your morals!", "Not a sex toy!", "In gay we trust!", "Homohobes dégage! [Homophobes get out of the way]" and "Where is Amina? Free Amina!" in support of their Tunisian sister.
Quote:A new recruit to the group was then asked to demonstrate what she had learned during her inaugural training session at the headquarters the previous week. In front of everyone present, she got into position and started screaming the slogans at the top of her lungs. Inna told her she'd done well, but that her arms went a little slack as she was screaming, before going over the technical aspects of the Femen pose: legs in a wide stance and holding the sign high, arms straight and held a little behind the ears. “We’re not promoting yoghurt or beer, we’re reclaiming our bodies. This is aggressive nudity – we’re ready to attack!” Inna told her.
Quote:The girls even practiced being walked on, as is often the outcome at their protests. Pauline, a full-time French Femen activist, told me that women’s bodies are a lot more resistant to pain than you'd think. “We’re taught early on that we are frail, but we’re not! We’re probably more pain resistant than men. I’ve been beaten up during my six months as a Femen and I’m amazed at how much violence I can be exposed to and still be able to get back up and continue the action."
^ Yeah I doubt they could even hold their own against the women in the far right gathering they were protesting, let alone the men.
The reporter/author is clearly biased towards Femen, and ignorant about some of the larger scale issues, so I've just pasted the funniest parts.
Anyone else think that video ends up looking like some form of delusional CrossFit?

That comment about pain is amusing and common.
I hear it all the time from women about how women can endure more pain than men. My sister loves that line and then proves it false every year. She got pink eye once and cried for about a half hour after receiving her eye drops....had to hold the broad down while we put the drops in her eyes.
I got fucked up in a car wreck once and while chilling on the coach, nursing my destroyed knee, I shifted my weight and said aloud my knee was killing me - a passing comment while watching sports. She sighed aloud, wondering why men were so weak and always complaining. Even though my mom is often terrible towards me, she turned to my sister and said she was full of shit because she couldn't imagine a world where you wouldn't be a whiny, crying trainwreck after sustaining the injuries I did.
That being said, FEMEN is one of those movements aimed at garnering male attention through whatever means possible. Part of this behavior makes me think women have Histronic Personality Disorder built into their minds biologically, as these dumb broads can't conceptualize that their actions are what is causing people's bad reactions to them. Sawing through a religious symbol is extremely disrespectful and nobody with a heart or brain would engage in that behavior.
Also, I get the feeling that they want to walk around nude to status-whore. They are all young and in shape - they probably just want to show off their bodies and get attention, particularly male attention. If they can't get positive attention, then they seek negative attention.
Feminism, in any form, always has its roots in narcissism.

I hear ya 2Wycked.
This was brought up at work the other day, about women being able to give birth. Or men couldn't handle giving birth etc. Women can handle more pain blah, blah, blah.
I just said, "If men gave birth. Women wouldn't know it was painful, because men wouldn't whine and bitch about it all the damn time. They would just do it and move on."

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?
