I read a few times a week for around an hour. FT Job with hectic hours leaves me pretty mentally fatigued to read anything too difficult during certain parts of the year.

Since graduating college 2 years ago, I fell out of reading books but have gotten back into it this year.

A decent goal of light reading I have set for myself is about 20 books per year. Good books too, not crap like 50 Shades of Gay. I am on track to meet my goal which is good. I know looking at my friends, I am reading about 20x as many books as they are (they dont read at all). If you are not a big reader, 20 books is good goal to set.

Not too much nowadays. I used to read 300 books a year when I was in high school (no girl wanted to fuck me, ah those blessed days...) but now it's a whole lot less. I am lucky to squeeze in 5 books a year nowadays. It has to improve because I'll become an uncultured animal!

300? Damn.

Fantasy fiction writer Patrick Rothfuss used to read a novel or two a day. That's pretty much all he'd do, I suppose.

I find this so "out of my reality", but then it makes sense when you consider that I spent a few hours mindlessly surfing the internet...lol.

I try to read a book a week. Also study lots of info products and listen to seminars/podcasts in my downtime while I play mindless video games.

Knowledge is power. All the top earners and entrepreneurs are reading constantly.

Warren Buffet spends 8 hours a day reading. One of the questions Donald Trump likes to ask is "what 3 books are you currently reading?"

Can you imagine some people never pick up a book their entire life?

Once outside of school, you definitely need to read. Life Continuing Education. Out of all of my close personal friends, only like a couple actually read books. It's mind boggling. I wonder what they do with their free time. I assume it's watch retarded videos on the internet, facebook, and porn. That's a great recipe to turn your mind into muck.

Totally relate to this. Sometimes, when a book is damn good and gets me amped up, I feel my heart rate speed up, I can't help but stand up start walking around. I remember few times pumping out a 20 set of pushups or some shit when I was extra pumped.

I spend an hour or two a night reading fiction, mainly science fiction, fantasy or horror. I like stories about the fantastic and the implausible.

A lot of the books I consume are self-published pulpy nonsense, like Mark Tufo's zombie series, which are the novel equivalent of fast food, but I find them entertaining pulpy nonsense, and that's all I'm looking for in a book. Anything else is a bonus.

Here's a few of the books I've read recently that come with the Steve Gold Seal of Approval:

* The Stone Man, by Luke Smitherd - a giant stone man stomps around England smashing everything in its path. Much more intriguing and well written than the premise implies.

* The Grimnoir series, by Larry Correia - wonderful trilogy set in an alternate 1930's where ordinary people have X-Men type magic powers. Each book is better than the last.

* The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher - about a private eye wizard in contemporary Chicago.

* Wool, by Hugh Howey - a gripping story about a society trapped in a massive underground silo.

* The Road, by Cormac McCarthy - the bleakest, and most hauntingly terse book I have ever read. It's about a father trying to protect his son in the aftermath of an apocalyptic disaster. But more than that, it's about a father's love and the sacrifices we make for our children. There's nothing about women or sex here, but in its own way it's possibly the most Red Pill fiction book of recent times. A must read.

My day job involves a lot of reading, writing and - most of all - talking about ROI's and project plans and whatnot, so reading about zombie apocalypses or professional monster hunters is a nice change of pace.

I can read books when I need to, but it's often rough for me to keep my focus for long periods of time on the same thing. It certainly doesn't help that I'm focusing much of my efforts on learning French currently.

That being said, I've read some early modern European works such as Utopia, The Prince, Gulliver's Travels. I'm currently reading a translation of Plato's Republic with Book I finished so far. Hopefully I can accumulate some better understanding of ancient Greek philosophy outside of Hippocratic medicine by the end of the year.

You should try your hand at reading a couple Le petit Nicolas. They are pretty sweet. Classic children's books but actually more intended for an adult audience.

I spend a very significant part of my time each day consuming text, but not all that much of it's long-form reads like a non-fiction book.

I do not feel that I can afford the time for light entertainment like fiction or TV right now.

I would bet that I do more reading in the form of podcasts and audiobooks than printed books.

Another thing that I consume a ton of is Youtube videos of an informational nature, such as "How to use the stochastic movement index," etc. In a lot of ways, high quality Youtube videos of this sort give me a better ROI than reading books.
