Teen Accuses rue21 Store of Weight Discrimination, Gets vilified in the Comments

Teen Accuses rue21 Store of Weight Discrimination, Sparks Online Backlash
Basic premise of the article:
Quote:An Oregon teen’s claims— that she was thrown out of clothing store rue21 because of her size—have triggered a public outcry against the fashion retailer.
Quote:“I walked in and the lady at the front counter said 'hey you’re too big to be in this store, I need you to leave,'” Shelby told Oregon local news station KEZI on Sunday. When her mother arrived and learned of the incident, a store clerk allegedly apologized to the family.
Quote:But an apology wasn’t enough. After leaving the mall, Shelby updated her Facebook page stating: “Well, happy birthday to me! The rue21 in Eugene, Oregon told me I was too fat and told me to leave the store! I can’t believe it! Thanks for ruining my birthday, rue21!” Marjory also contacted KEZI with the story.

What does make me happy though are the top rated comments:
Quote:Who says "hey you’re too big to be in this store, I need you to leave". Something doesn't add up. Unless it was the sales associate's first hour on the job and had no understanding of what sales is all about, something just doesn't add up. Something smells a bit fishy here.....
Quote:All you have to do these days is throw an online tantrum. Nothing has been verified, it's still and alleged incident and alleged behavior, but Rue 21 has been smeared.
Quote:And of course the kids side is all true and we must boycott this store without ever hearing their side.
Quote:Okay, I'll go ahead and say it - I don't believe this story for a second.
What do you guys think? I think the girl is lying, it does seem fishy.

My first thought is "I would be working there if I was in Oregon".
My second though, "this is what a feminist looks like".
My third thought, "this is what a feminist sounds like".
Also, this sounds similar to abercrombie and fitch, they likely didn't have any clothing in her size, and when she asked if they did they said so.
What the sales person may have said, "We don't have that in your size, our sizes only go up to size 14" (or something to that effect)
Still a classic piece of attention whoring

This story would be hard to believe ANYWHERE, but in Eugene, Oregon? Give me a break. It was probably some some hippie working the register, flowers in her hair and all, who may have been too out of it to even acknowledge her presence. She comes in later with mom and she starts apologizing because...that's something a hippie would do ("like, I'm TOTALLY sorry, man").
On top of it all, the girl's name is "Shelby Buster" daughter of "Marjory Buster". What?
