It's interesting to read that the general belief is that social proof is not the be all end all.

If you already have a girlfriend and just want to keep your options open for when the break up happens, social circle game is the way to go. That's currently what my MO is...hooking up two "clubs" that I am a part of in a few weeks with a party hopefully will get my name being passed around in even more circles.

Sometimes I wish I didn't have a girlfriend though. I almost feel like I can't enjoy the fruit of my labors. I have to admit, though, it has been very fun meeting new people in other clubs. It's a refreshing alternative to meeting people while you are drunk at parties.

Edit: For those of you who do want to go the social circle route, learn from my mistake: signing up from every club is much different than being an active member in each club. Do not try to be an active member of every club you sign up for: your grades will plummet.

All that's is important is that you sign up for the e-mails and go to events that fit your schedule. Go to the events and be the fun, nonjudgmental guy. Basically just act like a freshman.

If you do want to be active, don't be "passive-active", which basically means don't just show up to meetings just to be seen. Find out what the leader of the club wants, determine if you can provide it for him, then provide it. The leader will speak highly of you to leaders of other clubs because college politics are a real thing. Leaders are always in the college public eye, too, so when you make the leader look good, he will make you look good in return through his praise of you.

That's where I am now. We'll see where I go from here.
