When human behavior is not constrained, it tends to take the path of least resistance to the bottom. There is no law against fattening up, and with decreasing shaming methods pushed in the culture, the trend will continue towards fattening. Besides, there is just too much money in selling sugar to people.

Fat people make a beeline towards the center of the store where all the processed food is shelved. I stay on the perimeter, where other healthy people are. It's like a club that separates fat vs healthy people. This is where the attractive girls are to strike up a conversation. After doing a full circle in the store I only hit two isles. The one with spices and the other with beans. Maybe the pasta one but rare.

As per the article and the guy complaining about the magazines at checkout?. I don't see those as at that point in the store I'm looking for a hot cashier or girl in line to get behind. Crunch time logistics.

I'm not so sure. Most people have low future time orientations. Simply put, most people are dumb and don't plan well for the future.

And it's clear that in industrialized countries like the U.S. there's an inverse correlation between obesity and IQ. Repeated studies on both children and adults have confirmed that obese people have lower IQ's on average.

This study for example found that children who tested as having low IQ's when followed up decades later were found to have higher rates of obesity:

I honestly find the fattening lazy American society to be a good thing.

It helps those of us with decent genetics and willpower to dominate. I had a friend who was a fat asian kid who did some massive dieting and cardio to get skinny. Now he's jacked and does triathlons.

He said something to me, "When I was fat, I always got friendzoned. People were always really nice to me and girls would get real close to me but I would never be able to make the jump. It wasn't until I got sick of it all and went crazy on a workout binge that my social situation changed and started getting girls."

Inspirational, that is what got me going to the gym. I got tired of floundering socially. I wasn't able to get to the next level without working out.

Definitely worth it.

^^^ Obamacare will collapse under the weight of the obesity epidemic. The CDC already named obesity as a disease in preparation for the onslaught of need. Once it fails and fat people start dying off, they'll have less stupid kids. Problem solved.

Plus when the system fails and healthy people suffer from the Obamacare failure, fat shaming will rise to new highs. Sometimes I think this is a well thought out plan to curb fatness. The hard way.

And yes, kids will eat better when they watch their mom dying from gangrene due to diabetes eating away their foot.

Despite what some might say, the obesity epidemic is NOT good for anyone, not even those of us who are not obese. Setting aside all the issues of paying for healthcare, when society is not healthy in the body it will cease to be healthy in the mind. We can see the neurotic effects already.

There is now a shortage of good-looking women in the western world because a huge proportion of them are fat. The remaining good ones get disproportionate attention and thus hugely inflated egos. What girls want is never going to change. Fat or skinny, girls want the alphas. Even if girls were skinny you'd still have to go to the gym to get decent poon. The difference now is that you go to the gym and bust your ass but the quality of girls you get is crap. Being overweight isn't nearly as huge of a negative sexual hit for men as it is for women.

Once the US goes broke and cannot afford to spend 1 million dollars on every patient at the end of life, they'll just sentence them to death via a death panel in order to cut costs.

New Zealand is up there massively in terms of obesity. It was above America proportionately last time i looked. We have always had free healthcare.

There are many other health issues that don't involve obesity. Using the problem to push a political agenda is not getting anyone anywhere.

Actually one thing people who aren't die-hard conservatives have been oblivious to is to the extent to which the death panels the Tea Party talked about were real. I didn't realize it at the time when Obamacare was passed. The media was so obsessed about demonizing them for using the phrase that they obfuscated this fact.

Already we see policy leaders, bureaucrats, economists, etc. coming forward to tell us to get less cancer screening and to redefine cancer in a more narrow way, so that doctors can tell people they have conditions like “indolent lesions of epithelial origin" (IDLE). A phrase only a bureaucrat could come up.

This makes sense for the government because then it can say Obamacare is a success because - voila! - cancer rates went down after its implementation, even if in fact cancer has been redefined. I actually used a few of the lines in the "store clerk thread" on the only cute girl working at my grocery store. Assuming she is 18+, I'll grab her number this week when I go shopping. I used the Gio method of chatting her up the past couple times when checking out.

As far as other shoppers, they are almost all morbidly obese. Hopefully that changes once school starts back up. Good idea about staying in the perimeter.

I always thought it was funny how feminists stand up for fat women, and in this case fat children. They say how it's important to be comfortable in your own body, but they would have no problem calling a guy fat and saying that he is disgusting for being so. I think fat-shaming of both genders is important, its a waste of time and medical resources keeping people alive when they don't seem to care at all about their own quality of life.

We're third behind the USA and New Zealand, but they have a huge Maori population who are naturally big bastards.

The Average Australian Woman from my observation:

Tiny in high school, then bloat once they start regular alcohol consumption. Women regularly binge drink down here for social approval. Most uni girls will already have a pooch or double chin. Once they land a serious boyfriend, they stop trying and fatten right up. These women drive cars and SUV's everywhere, and regularly meet their friends for fattening coffees-and-a-pastry that have more calories than a meal. They eat as a herd - if one girl has no willpower the entire group instantly follows. They eat as if they don't realise people might be watching and judging, so they use their hands, even shoving chips into their mouths *sideways*.

If they've got kids, they drop them to-and-from school in case their children risk molestation by a pedo, so the children never walk anywhere either. Immediately after school drive their doughy, pasty children through the McDonalds Drive Thru for a 'snack', that's once again more calories than a healthy meal. There's a park across the road from my home in a street full of children that never gets used. It's silent on weekends.

About 35, the women all cut and dye their hair to remove the remaining traces of their feminity, and start the downward slide of turning into something that looks like McDonald's Grimace. I'm always stunned when I see a woman with long hair who is old enough that it's turned grey. It's simply that rare. They're all that red headed feminist woman in that video that did the rounds a few months back.

Basically, every woman is either a teenage girl, or a slob.

There are exceptions - city women try a bit harder in their thirties - but then you have to deal with their perceived self-importance due to their fuckheaded government work or bullshit careers writing trite op ed pieces for Australian Media.

To succeed down here once you get out of the early 20's: be fit, be dominant, and you'll barely have to work to attract the queen bees because everyone else is such a damn slob. If you want fit women they'll either be at the gym, participating in sport, working in clothing stores, or in high school and out of consideration.

Aussie Men are fit in their teens and early-twenties, but too many of the blue collar guys live on meat pies and fast food that turns them puffy and soft by 30, particularly once they get too old for footy, so if you don't have a beer gut by your forties, you have a huge advantage.

Americans here will have the advantage of being 'exotic', but, shit, why come here when you could go to Europe, where a girl smokes a cigarette when she's bored instead of hogging into an entire block of Cadbury Full Cream Dairy Milk?

On top of all that, Aussie chicks are rough and masculinised. They swear. They screech at their husbands and children in public. There's a character on television who is supposed to be a parody, but simply seems like Utter Truth to me.

Good analysis of Australian girls. There are tons of them living as expatriates in Europe and they all seem to be fatter (on average) than Americans girls.

I knew one fat Aussie chick pretty well.. Over about 2 months she lost all her weight and became pretty damn hot (something I applauded) but then took up feminism/social activism and *drum roll* became fat again.

Weight aside, most have attitude problems and are very aggressive.

I'm curious what the worlds obesity rates look like when broken down by gender - anyone have a link to stats on that?
