Is it just me that finds it really weird that the dude tracked someone down for such a minor offence? The girl deserved it for lying, but still, isn't that abuse of power or something?

For sure, let bygones be bygones. This dude is a loser for holding a grudge that was his fault for being so easily fooled, and wasting resources to track a girl down for a speeding ticket. This is practically stalking as practiced by police.

The feminist-controlled media in the states is so biased that the Daily Mail is the only place you can go to for decent news articles.

That and Russian Times. (The irony has been noted many times that we need to read a newspaper from Russia to learn the truth about the United States.)

I would take the opposite position.

In the U.S., if anything we see an abuse of police discretion.

If her dad really were dying and he gave her a ticket, wouldn't we say how fucked up that was?

So the guy used his discretion to give her a pass. He took her at her word.

Once he found out he was lying, he punished her for the crimes she should have been initially charged with. He didn't tack anything on.

I would love to live in a world where cops saw themselves as "keepers of the peace" rather than thugs in boots who want to squeeze every dime out of you.

If we want that sort of treatment from police, then we also have to be men and women of integrity. That means owning our mistakes. If you get caught speeding, take your ticket or at least don't lie about it.

I'm far from pro-cop but think he did the right thing - first by letter her walk and then later by not letting her escape her lies.

I literally was pulled over when going to visit my dying grandmother. Was not speeding either. And I still got a ticket for an expired inspection. I had been out of state and hadn't been able to get one. Was pulled over again on the way to her funeral-- this time was actually for speeding and didn't bother me that much.

(This was not NH)

I don't mind the fact that he let her go - if the girl wasn't lying, that would have been a great thing to do for someone - it's more the fact that he stalked her down after. That's the part that doesn't really sit well with me. At least the bitch hopefully learned something about responsibility for her actions, though.

I have a terrible driving record. I have a new strategy when I get pulled over. It has resulted in 3 warnings out of the the last 4 times I have been pulled over. I hand over my license, I immediately apologize and I say, "I have a very poor driving record." Sometimes I simply ask for leniency. If they ask you if you know why they pulled you over, just admit it. Be as honest as possible and contrite. They seem to find this refreshing as they are used to people bullshitting them. The only one who gave me a ticket was a woman.
