Hey guys,

I'm trying to upgrade my fashion a little bit. I'm 24 and work from home, so because I never had to dress up for work, I never really learned about how to wear jackets.

Anyways, I have this jacket...

   

I'd like to wear it more often. The problem is that I don't know what kind of shirt to put under it and what kind of pants to wear with it.

I'd like to keep it somewhat casual (no tie). What would you suggest for shirt and pants when I'm going out to a bar and when I'm in a daytime setting like walking around downtown or going to a coffee shop?

Here are some pictures I just took wearing it with a white t-shirt underneath and my pajamas on, haha.

I always encourage guys to not take advice on what to wear(and not wear). Why? Because there is no rule or learning of what is right/wrong/beautiful/ugly so I advise you to wear whatever you feel comfortable in and what you like with pride.

Honestly put this in fashion-thread. No need to start a new thread.

But here goes
1) White V-neck >White T-shirt
2) Colored V-neck. I personally like baby blue, red, light grey
3) Henleys
4) Collared Shirt

Don't forget to throw in a pocket square for extra "flash" points. I like baby-blue, royal-blue, red, striped squares or squares with patterns

My advice - Throw out the jacket!

Buy a blazer (slim fit) dark navy blue, button down and tie combo with chinos/jeans.

Ie:

(Add in tie and button down)

You're 24, don't dress like a 35 yr old.

I mean the old rule is that the sleeves touch the bottom of your thumb's knuckle. So if you're already violating that you might as well let loose and, seriously, pop the collar on a neon disco shirt and wear karate pants.

Whatever you wear you have to "own it" without a doubt.

You're not going to tell us next that fat women can be beautiful too, are you?

There definitely are basic rules to follow.

Rules are made to be broken, but for a style novice, you need some basic rules to keep you from looking like dog shit.

A couple of rules include unbuttoning that second button, not wearing a t-shirt underneath it, and making sure it fits and that the sleeves are not too short.

The jacket has really short lapels, this is not flattering. Button stance is way too high. Fastening lower button is a no-no. Here's a post about a guy with the same problems as you getting an upgrade from the style blogger (tsbmen.com).

As for not knowing what to wear (hint: not a white crewneck): subscribe to a style blog. Things will get better, gradually.
