As long as it was a planned maintenance and announced in advance, I think it's well within their rights.

That said, even if it weren't, as long as it doesn't become a pattern it seems too minor to worry about.

they said it was because of maintenance but earlier in the day people were saying it was a dos attack. we lost our company email all day I had to deal with a bunch of people freaking out, glad this day is done. even Go Daddy goes down, they all do.

It knocked out the forum, ROTK and the blog. Is it a lot more expensive to have the different parts on different servers?

I use Hostmonster and I had big issues from about 10a-2p ET. Glad everything is back to normal.

They are on different servers, but in the same data center. I have noted this weakness.

Site went down the day I got my account here. That sucked!

So I went to do a bit of blogging on my own sites... they were down as well!

They're on Hostgator though.

Gave up and went to bed.

I can recommend splitting your sites between different hosts, especially if you earn money from them.
