I just finished watching the video below on butane hash oil. It is supposed to be pure THC. Anybody have experience with smoking concentrates? I have smoked lot of bud, but never hash oil. How different is the high?

It's becoming all the rage in California, personally I'm not a fan, too potent for my liking. It's basically the equivalent of taking three huge bong rips of super potent weed all at once. A massive head rush that gets you instantly high as shit, puts you on your ass, etc. It's good for medical patients with extreme pain, seizures, etc. I think the good Cali herb strains are strong enough, I don't need to be put in a comatose state and can't function for the rest of the day/night.

Interesting. It seems to be very popular among guys who smoke a lot of weed and have built up their tolerance really high. The masked guy in the video says he doesn't even smoke weed anymore since it no longer gives him the high he is looking for.

Next time I am in California I am going to get some BHO and try it out.

The best and purest stuff is made with an oxygen extraction method and not butane, the highest grades are usually called "shatter" and "ear wax", you can get them at most cannabis clubs, but run about $50 a gram, might be worth a try. Anyone who smokes so much hash oil that they can't get high off weed any more is kind of an idiot in my opinion, but different strokes for different folks. This hash oil issue is causing some problems or raising questions in WA and CO as far as whether they should be legal in addition to marijuana.

I was a pro at making this in high school. If you use "ronson's butane" it makes it a nice shiny gold. The high is real intense but really short with a terrible burn out. Also people have died being retards and having open flames near it during production, like hot knifing it as its still being made or smoking nearby. My retarded skid friend wanted to see how to make it, so I was showing him in my parents shed and he just fires up a smoke after I've sprayed off 3 cans of butane into the room. I kicked his ass out in a rage and refused to hang out with him again for being too stupid.
I prefer just a nice j of some fine herb rather then all the crazy concentrates. But that's probably because I hardly smoke any more and my tolerance is next to none nowadays. If you are going to smoke it I'd recommend hot knifing it, it's uh... Pretty intense.

Here in Europe its not really commercially available more like a collectors item you get from friends who make their own.
I was gifted some and smoked a bunch of oil back in 2010 and didnt really like it, its strong as fuck but also shitty to use since its sticky and whatnot. I didnt know about all this kind of oil equipment for smoking so I would just smear it on a joint. I was also offered some straight sativa oil once and it was really expensive, I think about 80 € a gram I didnt buy it.

I always preferred bubble hash which is also very strong but easier to smoke. Also I found oil kinda rough on the lungs. In the netherlands its already banned and classed as hard drug.

Its a bit too harsh for my liking. I prefer the flowers, but for some people its the bee's knees.

Also, the entire concept of having to light a blow torch and keep it going just to smoke a bowl seems cumbersome and inefficient to me.

Butane has a low boiling point, so when they heat the butane mixed with the hash oil and then vacuum the paste during production, all of the butane has boiled off. The butane is only used to extract the pure THC oil from the buds.

Butane hash is much smoother, we call it honey oil in Canada and it gets you really ripped, I usually put it on a paper and fill the joint with weed or sometimes put it on a cigarette. I don`t like to smoke the iso stuff, its dark green (as opposed to the brown honey oil) and its really harsh to smoke, the last time I did it was about 5 years ago and I never coughed so hard in my life, my throat was hurting for a couple of hours from one hit, I was pretty stoned though haha.

Be careful if you decide to make honey oil, lots of people blow themselves up doing so.

You still smoke the bud, but making oil this way is a good way to utilise all your leaves and stems, if you're a grower. It's either this, make butter, or throw the shit away.

I've tested this shit out in Miami and holy fuck, that shit made me stupid. I don't smoke like I used to and am some what of a light weight. Not sure if this is the same stuff you use in the "pens" but the pens are awesome. Easiest way to smoke discretely.

They are obviously hyping it up, BHO has been around for a long time.
Its not "pure THC" either, like that shaggy dude claims in the Vice video.
