Wish you luck with this, but I saw that someone also mentioned Zrće (in my country) as an example. I have to warn you, Zrće is an enormous sausage fest overhyped by news crews prowling to film a few "public makeouts" (although perhaps not as big a sausage fest as the famous washington bar). I hope this thing in Kazan is different, but still I'm very skeptical.

Yea, many marketing types are well aware a sausage fest reputation can hurt their event, so they try to control the portrayals as much as they can. This is very true for stuff out in cancun these days.

Did it live up to the hype? No. A lot of the hype in terms of what goes on sexually was based on a documentary a few years ago that used footage from staged 'sexy' events.

When the owners of the festival saw the documentary a few years back and were less than pleased and stamped down on the sexy events.

Having said that, topless sunbathing was normal, also saw some naked chick sunbathing and couples fucking in the sea.

As a place to pick up, good luck. The crowd is almost all Russian and almost none of them speak English.

I enjoyed it though. Partying until sunrise was the norm. Got my pass for the whole festival for free (press pass), found cheap accomodation just by turning up so yeah I had fun.

If you're physically attractive and American, I think you'd do well in any environment like this one. Seems like a Russian Cancun-spring break. I could be wrong though.

Did you see a lot of people exhibiting the obvious signs of having taken MDMA? All the raves I've been to in the US are still chocked full of people rolling. I think in Ukraine, where enforcement is much more lax, it would be even more available, and cheaper.

Of course superficially, all raves are "anti drug".

But when you see everyone dancing their asses off at 3AM with pupils the size of quarters and drinking lemonade, that "anti-drug" thing starts to seem not so true.

As I happened to be in the area this year, I also attended the event.

Long story short: overhyped. I make a point of checking out at least one festival per summer. Other more mainstream events in central or eastern Europe have as much or more scenes of debauchery than Kazantip. The organizers have done a great job of building up the mystique and the marketing machine has attracted a few horny French and Brits. For your average player who is focused on actual results, there are much better nightlife options in other seaside resorts in Crimea.

Nightlife crowd seems to be +60% dudes. Mostly raver types. And yes, drugs.

During the day, many party goers sunbath by the beach while techno music blares in the background. The beach is beautiful and this setting presents the best option. Ratios are better too. Yeah, topless girls and all, there’s actually some spots on the Bulgarian seaside almost like that with similar amounts of hotties.. so not impressed.

Bartenders are scammers. Prices vary tremendously from one bar to another. I’ve paid as much as five times the regular price for a simple can of beer.

I totally avoided the big dance arenas and hung out at these chilled out bars and the live venue stage. Fuck approaching spazzy chicks.. I noticed a few guys doing this, and of course they were frenchies. The nearby biggest city is Evpatoria. During the day it's a resort for families and grannies, but at sundown the nightlife is quite impressive with four big open air nightclubs and many russian girls. On many occasions I ditched Kaznatip to head over there.

I never bought drinks inside and don't see why anybody would.

Just walk out the festival exit and buy a beer or small bottle of vodka from the stalls for regular store prices (6 times cheaper than inside), drink it and head back in.

No aussies, brits, americans, canadians etc.

Not necessarily a bad thing

Almost all russians. Only toursists there seemed to be french or german.

All the posts on Russia and Ukraine on this forum suggest you pretty much NEED to speak conversational Russian to have a shot over there.
