As it always takes two to tango what would be the point of evolution developing men to be perverts cos women always recoil at men glaring at them?

I was thinking one possible explanation is cos of rape and in the old days men developed this eye for a fresh piece of meat which may have strayed from the pack so that they could rape her. In that case it would negate the two to tango issue.

Nowadays since we can't rape women we still have that evolved 'rape instinct'- in the form of slobbering over any young nubile specimen which passes by us but get chastised or locked up if it is expressed so it must be subdued in this day and age -similar to violence. Violence and anger are also evolved instincts but we would suffer similar consequences for just acting on impulse.

That is the best evolutionary explanation I can thusfar think for it. Evolution is extremely economical about these things so wouldn't have built it over millenia for nothing.

i think the reason there are more "perverts" now than in the past is that in the old days weirdo's were put to death or incarcerated

Refreshing my memory of my evo. bio. reading I've done I realized the more likely explanation.

They say in general men have more wandering eyes cos of the smaller investment in childbirth so they want to impregnate as many women as possible to max. out their replication chances.

For most men though we have this 'player instinct' but the majority of men are betas so never get to actualize it.

Mix that in with the 21st century population boom and you have a recipe for an epidemic of depression in the majority of men in the population as there can only be a few alphas in a given society and the rest must live sexless or unsatisfying sex lives while still holding this natural player's instinct.

I have thought about this and how for women they can be self actualized as women by default and society supports it. I guess they have the judgement for having sex thing to worry about.

For men though it is seen as perverted or immoral to express the natural player urge. It is also unfaesible cos not every man in society could be a player cos it would lead to constant fighting and tribal warfare as rivals fought one another for the women (which I have read was the main resource men fought over to capture and maintain in tribal times, a practice which still holds true today in some remote tribes).

Depends on what you call perverted...I mean we have more testosterone, we are driven to spread our seed its pretty simple. If you are talking about rape as an instinct, you might be referring to caveman times...but that was a day or two ago.

In any written history, of course sex was viewed differently than now, but so was corporeal punishment. So, if you attacked, assaulted or tried to get dirty with a woman from another tribe or a woman within your own tribe who was spoken for, you may very well get fucked up or killed for that.

Good points.

I read that they regarded other tribes with extreme prejudice back then and would usually kill them on site.

Also one of their fav. passtimes was doing 'raids' of other tribes to steal the women for their own tribe.

Sure and primates still do raids.

Of course in the past, you would view another tribe with extreme prejudice. It's natural. We don't do that as much now, but when the timing is right you can see it (tribes still routinely murder each other in Africa..think Bosnia/Serbia where not so long ago race/religion caused people to attempt genocide, Iraq, Afghanistan all tribalism in effect) ...your tribe is an extension of your family, your breed, your entire culture.

Others that look, live and speak differently from us are possible immediate threats to our way of life and expression of our genes. Even in babies, when they see a face of a person of another race the brain lights up differently. They are not necessarily scared , but more alert to different cues and changes that come with the different face.
