Looks like this was filmed at Carnegie Mellon: This suggests that even "smart" girls are not immune to delusions of grandeur and hamsterization. In fact, the smartness may only exacerbate it.

This is also further illustration that girls use their intelligence not for truth-seeking, but for self-esteem protection and navigating social interactions.

Cute blonde chick at 1:00 is the only one that's even vaguely realistic; I doubt she's a CMU student.

CMU must be a pussy desert if an Asian 6, a black 5, and a slew of white mediocrities rate themselves in the 7-10 range.

I'd agree with the first girl (0:00) and her initial rating of 7. She's solidly attractive and seems pleasant to talk to. The short-haired one who called herself a 5 seems pretty realistic, too. She knows her style is kinda fucked up but her alternative is to be a plain jane on the low end of the scale, and will hopefully attract a guy who is quirky and interesting instead of a vanilla low-beta.

But I think what you're seeing here is as much the result of social pressure than anything else. The plain ones are all answering '7' because that's the acceptable balance of self-esteem and humility. The Asian chick insisting that she was an 8 probably doesn't get invited to as many parties as the others.

Notice that of the two girls mentioned (0:00 and 1:00), neither of them are in front of their friends.

Note that they attend CMU, a tech type school. They are likely hounded by guys due to the 58% male population there.

Note the delusional Asian. Her friend appears 1-2 points higher, hard to tell with the glasses though. Her justification for the 8: "Cuz I deserve it."

Plenty of herbs at that place to treat her like a 10.

The dude in the video is a 2, solid 3 if he shaves the trash stasche.

Most of them even thought they were being modest and were toning down their REAL opinion. LOL I liked the cuter of the two Asians who said she was a 7 (she was right). She seemed to have a level head. Her pipsqueak friend was delusional.

The white girl in the white shirt and nice rack also seemed legit. Her face was a bit rugged but I imagine she's more attractive in person based on attitude and demeanor alone. So her 7 was probably spot on in the real world as well.

Not so sure about the blonde in the green shirt. Lots of guys banging you and being liberal with makeup doesn't make you and 8. I'd say a 7 for her also, maybe even less in my opinion, but since most guys would give her a 7 or above I'll give the benefit of the doubt. I bet she does have some sex appeal in the flesh, which might boost her to 7.5 if lucky, but she'll be aging quite horribly though, I promise you. Not sure if that matters to most, but if I can see it already then it already makes a difference.

In my opinion, 8s and above are rare, and none of these women had anything rare or special about them. 8s at least can be found on any college campus, so I'm sure there were a couple milling about somewhere, but this guy seems to have been avoiding them.

The rest of em can fuck off with their confused selves.

I agree as far as genuine 8s and above being rare. I'd even go as far to say that in some places bona fide 7s are rare. This isn't due to a lack of ok looking girls, rather due to skewed ratings. Statistically speaking, 5 on a scale of 1-10 is average, and no girl (1 maybe?) in that video professed to being a 5 despite the fact that, in terms of prevalence among the female population, they were all pretty average. I'm willing to bet that most men, in the company of friends or otherwise, would be more objective about their own rating.

Then again, this is all mental wankery on my part. If a girl gets your dick hard then it's game on.

I prefer to not be too harsh in my judgments since I want to avoid '2/10 WNB' syndrome. And also to reflect the fact that most girls look much worse than that - so it is not like I regularly see girls who are hotter than this.

Of course - God knows what any chick looks like without makeup. So - I give my scores forewarned that skill with makeup can make a huge difference.

After all, you only get 10 ratings in a scale like that right? A 10 better be perfect and a 9 very close. As another guy pointed out, a 5 should be average, so every notch above is pretty significant.

Being any less strict, in my opinion, creates a scenario where guys are giving women like I just described a 12, which hardly makes any sense.

Anyhow, to each his own, no doubt. Not trying to argue it - just find it curious. As many have pointed out, the entire idea of rating has its share of pitfalls.

before I came to this forum I ran something very similar through girls but I was asking random and friends to rate me 1-10. I myself consider myself average or slightly below average. But to my surprise non of the girls rated me lower then 6 most often answer I got is 7 which for me is way out of the line. This experiment teach me that I'm not as ugly as I think I was, although I have to consider that these 20 or so girls were trying to be nice to me.

In California at a middling State school, I don't think 8's are rare, lots of trim, tall girls with long legs, perfect skin and thick, shiny hair. ( I guess that the two go together health-wise.) Unless she has some serious negative to her face, that make an 8 for me. If she has a long, athletic figure like that and a cute face, 8.5, very pretty classic face 9.

I think it's evidence the anti-carb movement is progressing, as it's the only thing that's changed significantly I know of, except WAY fewer educated people smoke in California, out of hot COLLEGE girls I think it's less than 15 or even 10 %. Definitely more in the working class girls who are shorter, chubbier, with pastier skins and dull-looking expressions. (My, aren't we picky!)

There's all kind of hamster in that video. The main one is the DC Effect, where girls clearly think ancillary factors that men don't value raise their score. Then there's the you-go-girl Dove Commercial element, where girls think declaring themselves a 10 makes it so. You see that with the black girl, which is unsurprising since black girls invented that I-am-a-queen noise (see below), and the dumb-ass Asian girl: "Because I deserve an 8!"

Think about it. Would you rather bang a '10' once, a couple of '9's', eight '8's' or sixteen '7's'? That is the way I think about things. So - for me - a '9' is four times hotter than an eight and so on...

Also - my graph only starts moving around the 7 mark. Since anything less than a '7' would be worse than wanking to a '10' on the internet.

I have way too much time to be thinking this deeply about this!

You can't really ask people you know to rate you. You'll never get honest answers. If you're that curious, put up your photos on one of those hot or not type sites. When hundreds of random people who don't know you chime in, you'll then have a realistic answer.

I'm pretty sure everyone, consciously or not, uses a (quasi-) cumulative logistic or (quasi-) cumulative normal for their rating scales.

Otherwise, if someone used a uniform distribution, they would be proffering 10% of the female population as 10's. Pretty much every decent-looking girl would become a 9-10 (top 20% of the population), and you lose a lot of granularity in the 9-10 range. You're left with non-attractive girls for numbers 0 (or 1) to 8, and who cares about non-attractive girls?

I, personally, think of it as z-scores--an 8 is 3* standard deviations more attractive than the mean of 5.

That's also why everyone generally agrees if a particular girl is closer to an 8 or a 6, but there will be a lot acerbic disagreement as to whether a particular girl is closer to an 8 or a 10--if we're talking normal distribution, there's not a lot of absolute difference between a girl of +3 standard deviation attractiveness and +5 standard deviations vis a vis that of +1 and +3 standard deviations.

Thus, in the 8-10 range, the noise-to-signal ratio increases as personal preferences play a larger role.

*More like 2 or 2.5, but it's more clear what I'm talking about this way for demonstration purposes.

thank you speak easy but after i visited hot or not.pl Idont think im going to get rated above 3 LOL highest score guy there is 6.0 and second highest is 5.5 for girls there are only 3 - 8 and rest are 6 so by cardguy standards this website is correct. But anyways im going to post my pic on hot or not and see what people think since im very courious.
