In defense of the guy, he ran out of money to pay the lawyers. I suspect they weren't falling oall over themselves to get him his documents once he was no longer a source of money.

As far as exerting now effort, he was probably trying to earn the money (I I guess he is an internationally known TV personality) that ended up condemning him to astronomical child support.

And the demon behind the scenes I as I keep ranting about, is imputed income. There's no real oversight by qualified accountants etc. over what is a reasonable amount, these are government bureaucrats declaring "Oh, he should be making about.... (X). SO you owe... y% of X."

Most lawyers work until the case is over, then bill you. He likely had no strategy and did no leg work on his own. He probably wrote a fat check hands off, like he did ms wonderful, and just let them do the work. They probably took him because he wasn't strong enough to fire them and hire good representation, similar to his marriage. He probably exerted no control or direction over the process which ultimately left him without his kids.

He can work in Canada, no? Imputed income timing was something that could have actually worked in his favor, but again it sounds like he was either too disengaged or misled to realize that.

From catching Kids in the Hall back in the day I always assumed the dude was gay.

Anyway, being a beta shouldn't land a man in prison or have him financially wiped out. There's a lesson to be learned here, but it doesn't change the fact that its an injustice.

I agree being beta shouldn't mean you get a financial death sentence.

On another side note, her eyes would qualify as beady eyes, right? I heard something a while back about beady eyed women being calculating. Since I can't name a source, I am just asking if anyone ever noticed a difference with some women and their eye shapes and behavior. Totally random question...

He repeated at least twice in the video he can't go to Canada or he'll be arrested. I think you are right he was not the type to aggressively defend himself-- he would've seen through her earlier if he had appropriate paranoia or just being normally circumspect.

I can't see having kids in the US unless you are really load and can take the hit while retaining your lifestyle.

Is going off the grid an option in these cases, say if a guy moved deep into the woods to grow dope or something and didn't report any income, or he became a homeless bum and collected pop cans for a living. Are those options or would he still be thrown in jail for due child support/alimony?

You can go 'off the grid' like this in Northern Canada. We would have guys working in the woods who would get paychecks in someone else's name and spend as much time as they could working in the woods, or fishing. One guy put it eloquently "This job sucks, but its the only job where the cops won't find me" Most of these guys holed up with with a drunk native somewhere on a reserve on their day off and thats where their stuff was kept. Not much of a life, but they liked it better than jail. Its insane though, some guys were hiding out because they were wanted for robbing or beating someone and some were hiding out from child support. Sentenced to the same fate for diabolically different things.

I think this is more of a consequence of the hole he dug himself than what he might have worked out with a well run divorce.
