This girl I know who's a bartender just broke up with her boyfriend who she lives with. Within days she's seeing someone else and brings him over to fuck. The ex is still into her, and due to the fact that they're both on the lease, he can't do anything about it. So each night, his choices are A.) leave his own apartment and find somewhere else to sleep, or B.) try to sleep while they're fucking. Naturally, she was the one that first pushed for them to live together (almost an ultimatum, which should've been the first warning sign).

Co-habitation, although not as bad as marriage, still has some significant downsides that a man needs to think about. Victor Pride at Boldanddetermined.com (great website if you don't know about it already) talks about ABC - Always Be in Control. The moment this chick's ex co-signed a lease with this broad he gave her control. Don't ever freely give away your control. Furthermore, from what I hear around these parts, laws in the US are changing that treat Co-habitation more and more like marriage.

Yeah co-habitation is always a bad thing, I even remember way back in high school a teacher going over statistics with us, she said it only MAYBE makes sense for those who are engaged or plan on getting married.

So I'm sure most of the forum has no intention of going the co-habitation route...

I think in the future, the laws will get so restrictive, that you will basically have to regularly go on record that you intend to maintain a bachelor (i.e. George Clooney style) if you are even the least bit wealthy or famous in order to have a established trail that you didn't "deceive the woman with false pretenses of a relationship" or some similar bullshit.

God help the men in the future that get involved with women who already have kids...

Well the big mistake was putting her on the lease, not the co-habitation per se. In states where there is common law marriage you can be considered married but you have to also hold yourself out to be as husband and wife; I'm not sure if the fact that you live together in and of itself automatically makes you common law spouses after a certain time has passed.
