RE: Las Vegas is the worst city in the United States (My Review)

just out of curiousity how is it that detrimental to stay somewhere like Ballys? Its on the strip and the rooms are decent enough for banging. I can see where it would be easier to have a hotel room wherever the club is but once you leave is Ballys that bad? Its not like you are going to a Motel Six
I had these same thoughts, that's why I stayed there. Also, I remembered that, 6 years ago, Drai's was the afterhours club that gets going at 3am. However, a new Drais is under construction, and the temporary spot is weak.

The crowd at Bally's was busted. Think motorcycle people, Old Midwestern couples, and Rednecks. When I walked through the tunnel to Paris, girls started to appear. None at Bally's. I want to be at a hotel where other girls are staying. Bally's was not that.
I was in LV last week for 4 days, went to Drai's Friday morning around 4am didn't leave until 7am, pulled some crazy stripper bitch from there. Interesting night/morning. Gotta love Vegas. But your right this new spot sucks.

I'm curious what time bars close in LA/Orange County? Being from NY, its embedded in me to stay out till 4, but at 3 am Vegas was a ghost town.

Hopefully I don't have to ever go again, but If I did I would stay at Encore/Wynn.

They chase you out at or a little before 2:00 A.M. They stop serving alcohol sometime between 1:30 A.M. and 1:45 A.M.

a lot of places empty you out at 1:30 and last call about 1:15. They stop letting people in at 1pm at many places. its redic. if you didn't like vegas you're going to loathe LA.

Guess you didn't take my advice of going to The Rhino.

Yeah. That is what I have been saying since Wynn opened.

SoCal is a joke for closing times. My first few weeks in San Diego I'd be rolling on European time out of habit. Leaving predrinks/pregaming at around 0030, heading to the bars for 1am. Was not impressed at last orders happening fifteen minutes later.

RE: Las Vegas is the worst city in the United States (My Review)
Ok, it's my last night in Vegas (had to cut if off early due to early flight tomorrow), so here's my pseudo-datasheet:

TL,DR: Everyone is white trash.

If you have kids and you take them out in LV past 9pm, you should be turned in to CPS. It's not a place for kids.

Stay in a good hotel. Two reasons: a) logistics b) entrance to that club's hotel. The hotel clubs have promoters. I got to know one, so each night I could bring in people with no line and for free. Free for guys with a hotel guest card (from that hotel), girls free and sometimes even free drink tickets. Work this. By the 2nd night, when I'd roll up with my crew, the promoter would come out with a big smile, hug my like I'm her best friend, etc, and have the ropes opened for us. Nice DHV. We never got a table - we were just normal guests. The promoter still just needs to get bodies into the club, so it's a win-win situation for both sides, and telling some chicks you have free entrance into club X with no wait works really well.

Like others have said, dress well. Peacock it. The white trash in LV dress poorly, so any guy dressing nicely gets attention. More than once, girls opened me, and once (in a McDonalds at 5am of all places), they said they liked my style and wanted to talk with me. I turned a lot of heads just by dressing well and a bit peacock-y.

Cosmopolitan hotel is a goldmine. Basically, they are geared towards women so it draws them in. Also, they have good cocktails. So in my case, I went to a bar there (Vesper -- ranked top 10 hotel bars worldwide), told the bartender my tastes, and he whipped something up. Chicks notice that. Then, I met a wing and we went to another bar in the same hotel, but not before I asked our current bartender who is the best bartender at the other place (Chandelier Bar) and whose name to mention. You can be sure you're getting a good drink when you show up and mention who recommended you, then tell them to whip something up involving alcohol X.

I also stopped by Planet Hollywod just to walk through, and it seems to have a similar vibe. Younger crowd, etc.

Clubs are not a requirement. Girls are everywhere, and they're all on vacation = looking to meet people. Hell, I opened 3 sets in a hotel's food court at the Chinese carry-out place.

Assume they're all white trash. Sorry to use the Zanesville, OH metaphor again, but it's true. LV works well because it's this massive spectacle. It's all off the hook, which makes people from smaller cities all googly-eyed. A New Yorker would barely flinch. So use your game you'd us on white trash, like:

Leverage your unique abilities. Have a passport? Speak more than one language? Traveled? Work it. Remember the girl from Zanesville will be in awe. Back to the Chinese carry-out place -- I opened a British 3-set with my knowledge of their culture, then a Mexican chick in front of me in line by speaking Spanish, then an Armenian set while eating by speaking in Russian.

LV is expensive, but you can work it. Pat attention to happy hours. Many bars have happy hours from 3-6pm and again 9pm-midnight. Club game is not needed. If you work things well, you should've opened at least 5-10 sets before clubs even open.

Honestly, if you want to do it cheap (minus hotel - pick that well), just hit a bar happy hour, get loaded, and meet people on the street, etc. They're all very friendly, especially if you're dressed well. Remember you are dressed better than 99% of people in LV, so you stick out, in a good way.

This I can agree with. Las Vegas brings out the worst in people and some of the worst people. It has its perks (small towners, casinos, etc.), but as someone else said don't bother if you're an easterner. There are better places with less of a flight distance.

I'm going to spar you a bit on this one G. Equal to Wynn you've also plugged THE Hotel heavily (closed now and becoming a Delano hotel). If there's one piece of advice that I've ever taken from you that turned out to be something of a dud it's your recommendation of THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay.

While a great hotel with superb suites, THE Hotel has awful logistics and not many interesting venues in the Mandalay Bay complex.

To be fair I will say that I think I would have done better if I had stayed at the Wynn for the latter part of my stay (I was at The Cosmopolitan for the first 3 nights).

I have been pretty clear that THE Hotel is when you want to maintain a low profile.

Or if you are with a girl.

Also, when I recommended that you need to keep the time frame in perspective. When I wrote about THE Hotel, Mix restaurant and lounge was the hottest place in Las Vegas.

So staying there was to your advantage.

I don't think I've ever met so many Australians and midwesterners in one place. Does anyone have any insight into why Las Vegas is so popular among the first group?

australians are some of the biggest partiers/drinkers I've encountered. they take like 2 years off just to travel the world and party before going into the work world.

How does the new Cosmopolitan Hotel compare to the Wynn? Is it worth spending an extra 30% for the Wynn if I don't really care for pool game....

I only ran into one guy out of the 15 or so I encountered. But I think enough people have made the point here.

tradeshow alert coming up in about 2 weeks: http://www.magiconline.com/

FASHION trade show. Lots of hot girls in town, assistants, marketing, buyers, etc...partying on the company dime as well. Ive been there a few times during the show and the quality of girls around is bumped up quite a bit.

Next lodging. You don't need to stay at Bellagio or Cosmopolitan or Wynn. Get a room on the strip at mirage, TI, planet hollywood, venetian, palazzo, Monte Carlo even. Just avoid the ghetto hotels like Excalibur or Luxor or ballys maybe. Search around and you can find a room for 150 or less. You can also use Priceline sometimes if you do your research on how to do it properly.

Ok so you want to spend less. Get a sandwich for dinner, 5-10 bucks.

..

Not a fan of clubs? There are several hotel bars that you can just post up at. I've pulled girls from bellagios lily lounge and other places. No cover, but some expensive drinks. ..

Want the tip of the year? Go hang inside the bars by the male strip clubs. You will never have a higher concentration of hornier girls. And the ratio will be about 100-1..

Vegas is better with more money but it's not necessary. And no place has a higher concentration of girls just wanting to get fucked.

Does this advice still hold true? I checked the prices of some of those hotels, and some could reach as low as around $50/night. Seems too good to be true.

I was also hoping to save alot by sticking to cheap sandwiches and going to hotel bars instead of clubs, and drinking sparingly.

If I follow this advice, including wearing a suit, what's the lowest I could reasonably spend per night while also having many opportunities to meet women and having some chance to score?

I was there the weekend after Thanksgiving. My usual Trump was about half off, but that's common on family-oriented holiday weekends. I saw prices at Mandalay Bay as low as $56/night, though. Went to Mandalay to eat (endless crab legs and shrimp!) and the casino was so empty there were practically tumbleweeds blowing through it. The other casinos I went into were pretty normal for an Easter/Thanksgiving weekend.
