First off, my own mother was raised by a single mother in the 50's. It was very tough, but all the siblings went to college & got jobs. Sure, it wasn't the typical case but doable IF you had an involved parent & good social circle.

It is more "woe-is-me" self-absorption from a feminist woman. The whole "surviving" as a woman could only come from a female who has had little problem being a woman.

The whole denying men sex is interesting for two reasons: one, given the SMP, why should many men care? They aren't getting laid anyway. For the men who do, the women who would engage in this probably aren't sleeping with those men. For the handful that do, there will always be another willing woman who isn't on some "no-sex" diet.

The other point is the moral superiority displayed in here. She notes how women in Kenya shut their legs & war stopped. Women are probably proud of the power exerted, but why? Why was war going on - what were the reasons? War isn't always wrong. Is she using this examaple because of racism, i.e. dumb black men fighting for no reason; because of sexism, i.e. men deciding to fight is inherently wrong. She could be highlighting the power of the pussy, but every woman already knows that.

The best part is how it shows women's selfishness. The economy is the main issue right now, not access to abortion, birth control, etc. - unless women are admitting alpha dick is THE issue for them. Of course.

These Lysistrata-esque schemes never work, precisely because the 'gina tingle is not governed by logic or reason. A few years back, there was this butt-ugly Belgian politician who argued that women should do the same thing; withhold sex until the male politicians formed a government. It went absolutely nowhere.

And speaking of Lysistrata, none of these feminists seem to understand that far from the grrl-power paean they think it is, Aristophanes wrote it to satirize how frivolous and small-minded women are.

They wouldn't care what the author meant. Just look at feminist readings of the Bible, e.g. Mieke Bal's: they claim that punishments men receive are because they are patriarchal, and they invent names for female characters who go nameless in the original.
Not that determining "what Aristophanes really meant" isn't already an interpretive exercise; it's just a less ridiculous one.

Never will it once cross her mind that most men would find her repulsive.

My parents live in Texas and I can assure you that every Texas woman I've met is into masculine men. True, they may not have the femininity of Latinas or the grace of East Asians and East Europeans but they are extremely attracted to men who drive in trucks, chew dip, have a shotgun on display at home, go hunting, enjoy their steaks as much as they hate their salad and vote Republican.

Good luck to the feministas on making the entire female population of Texas not get wet when they see these men.
