1. That always being classy and kind to other people would always result in their reciprocating that behavior to me.

2. Most girls were innately good people and any bad behavior by a female was due to acting out because of a guy disrespecting her.

4. Until I was 16 I didn't know I was circumcised. I was on my school's soccer team and in the communal shower out of my peripheral vision I see a weird looking dong. Breaking locker room etiquette I look right at it then look the owner in the eye and ask him "What the fuck is wrong with your dick, man?" Other dude: "Yours is different because you're circumcised, you idiot. Mine is the way it's supposed to be." Whoops.

Not so much funny but something this thread made me think of... That adults, and in particular the media, were honest.
I always understood the concept of fiction and fantasy. I cannot remember a time when I wasn't aware that cartoons were drawings, that actors were acting, that costumes were costumes and special effects were (dodgy 70s and 80s) special effects.
But when something was presented as fact, such as a documentary, I took it as gospel. It's on TV with a serious man voice over, it must be true.
The result being that documentaries about UFOs and ghosts, and books about "unexplained mysteries" that I read when I was quite young filled me with absolute terror. Paralysing, heart racing, screaming fear that most people probably never experience in their lifetimes. Years of not being able to get to sleep, certain that any night I could be abducted or haunted.
Not once did someone just say "It's all bullshit."

I was fascinated by constellations as a boy. Somewhere along the line I read the story of Orion's demise by Scorpio. I was deathly frightened Scorpio would sting me during the night if he was prominent in the sky. Asked my Dad to check all the time.

I remember watching the Hulk when I was a kid.

The scene where Banner is exposed to radiation and turns into the Hulk fascinated me.

This was during the era when media warned people about microwave radiation. Parents were told not to let their kids stand in front of the microwave oven, because cancer.

But I was a curious lil' fella and wanted to be the Hulk. So one evening I dialled our microwave on max settings and stood in front of it, flexing my arms, jumping up and down, ripping off furious little Hulk growls.

Then my little brother walked in. He was still very young, but his expression was all

I aborted my Hulk experiment and went off to sulk. Glad my brother could barely form a sentence because I would've been in deep shit.
