One of those fundamental divisions among humanity - people who take ten minutes backing into a perpendicular space and blocking a lane, and people who just turn and drive into the space.

Only reason to back in is if you're robbing a bank.

Of course, this does not apply to parallel parking where you have to back into the space - but you have to know how to do that, too.

And what about when you have to block the lane to back out of your spot if you parked head first?

I taught my Colombian ex to drive when she came to America. She had a bad habit of mistaking the gas pedal for the brake pedal, and we had two accidents, including one where she crashed into my garage. Being in the same car with a new driver is a nerve-racking experience and I don't plan on doing it again.
