Contemporary pop music is basically female worship so it's better avoided at this point. There's a mountain of evidence to support this idea if you look at the lyrics of what's been popular in the last few years. Fucking Good Charlotte's song about girls liking cars and money is subversive compared to the pussified garbage that gets lots of airtime today.

Regardless of what genres you're into, there's tons of information about good music on the internet so you're better off doing some research on your own than relying on mainstream outlets. Radio stations basically just play commercials now without any music or content and networks like MTV and VH1 show reality shows and other garbage instead of music videos.
