Philippines during Christmas?

Philippines during Christmas?
I have 2 weeks off during and after Christmas coming up, is it a good idea to go to the Philippines during that time? Does everyone go retreat to a middle of nowhere village since they're Catholic during that time or is it business as usual? Tickets are around $500 more expensive in December I've noticed.

I did a search but found nothing conclusive.
