LAS VEGAS (Reuters) - John McAfee, the flamboyant anti-virus software industry pioneer, made a surprise appearance at a computer hackers' conference on Friday evening, where he unveiled a new website to give people a place online to vent their anger.
The one-time millionaire who fled the Central American nation of Belize in 2012 after police sought to question him about the murder of a neighbor said he set up the site for ordinary people to lodge complaints on anything from government corruption to bad consumer products.

The site, called BrownList (http://www.brownlist.com/), carries the motto "It's payback time."

"This taps into anger in a positive way," he said in a brief interview before taking the stage at Def Con, the world's largest conference of computer hackers. "Instead of getting angry and shooting at somebody on the highway, or yelling at your wife, you can log onto the site."

BrownList offers a forum for people to file specific complaints and for users to propose solutions to problems. Suggestions are voted on by site members who decide what sorts of response might be best.

"Instead of just lashing out, give us your positive solutions," he told an audience of hundreds of hackers taking part in a three-day conference.

McAfee told Reuters that he plans to make money by offering subscription services to businesses, but he did not elaborate.

He said he is looking for more investors in the site, which he has started up with $450,000 from a private investor who he declined to name.

The British-American entrepreneur was the founder in 1987 of McAfee, a pioneer of computer anti-virus software, which was subsequently sold to Intel Corp in 2010.

Just checked out this video, McAfee actually comes across very intelligent and pretty rational here. I always assumed he was guilty when he was on the run, but after watching this I'm not so sure.

The Libertarian Party convention is this weekend in Orlando and they are voting Sunday for their nominee. Gary Johnson is most likely going to win the nomination but McAfee is considered to be in the top 3 choices.

Even though no LP candidate would actually win in November it would be entertaining to see McAfee get the nomination and stir shit up a little bit between now and then.

There's something admirable about a man who sets himself up earlier in life, then cashes out and doesn't give a fuck shamelessly chasing hedonism like any day could be his last day on Earth. The idea that a man can be 70 still looking decent and living life like it's a movie is exciting and inspirational for those who aspire to that sort of thing.

Whether or not any of these crazy tales are true - who knows. According to his wiki page he got married 3 years ago and is now living in Tennessee.

Go listen to the podcast. The interview is only 30 mins long in the latter half of the show.

He explains what went on in Belize and as you might expect these days, his version of events is the antithesis of what was reported at the time. And frankly, much more believable I'm my opinion. I always had my doubts about the MSMs version of events.

He is without doubt a very interesting man, highly intelligent & gives zero fucks about liars & haters. What's not to like?

It's worse. He calls for a new, giant government bureaucracy to give special education to immigrants - teaching them English and basic job skills, then forcing business to hire them. He suggests paying for it by eliminating any walls, fences or border security agents.

The libertarian ideas of free market and smaller government really break down when it comes to immigration.
