A friend of mine purchased a green screen kit. He wants to use it during networking drinking events. He plugs it in, tries to turn it on and next thing you know smoke everywhere and the power cord has melted off

Obviously had this happen at an event it would be a huge fire issue. Anyone know of a safer alternative that can be used with green screen

Replace the stock power cord with a heavier duty one. Sounds like it wasn't rated for the current draw of the device

which would have a safer draw, fluorescent or halogen?
