RE: Are electric shavers bad for skin?
I think electric shavers roughen up and dry out the skin a lot more than a wet shave.

I don't know that they're bad for your skin, but I just don't like them. They don't give a close enough shave. I read that these are good for sensetive skin, though pretty expensive.... http://www.fscbarber.com/shave/razors/ed...razor.html

They aren't bad for skin but a razor is much better.

They certainly dry out skin. I have used in the past but a classic wet shaving with cream/soap and brush is unbeatable.

btw, did you try myshavingclub.com? They sell great razors for $6 a month. Kind of like dollar shave club but I think they are better and made in USA.

Anyone ever try and shave a beard with a gillette razor?

I find the only way I can do it is with one of the old fashioned razors.

I think electrics are good for getting rid of that light roughness you get a couple of days or so after a razor shave - when there isn't enough to shave with a razor again because it may irritate your face. You can use a moisturizer to combat the dryness from an electric shave. I think it all depends on how often you need, or want to shave.

I have an electric razor and it doesn't exactly get all my hair.
It'll cut it but not short enough to say you shaved.

I prefer the razor even though it can irritate my skin, make sure you have sharp blades and aren't sharing them.
Hot to boiling water to soften the hairs and then cold with the blade to cut straight through and close the pores.

Started out with electric, then with the mach 3, and now I'm the on the safety razor like the picture above. If you have thick growth like I do, it's worth the investment. Only way I can get a genuine close shave. Only true downside is you can't travel with it.

Electric shavers tear up my face, especially my neck. Causes all kinds of irritation. The ones with three little circles are the worst...I don't see why that was a good idea from the start, you have to rub that thing all over your face ten times to get every spots. I stick with the Mach 3.

Still using my adjustable length shaver.

Works fine. I hate using razors.

Is it possible to board a plane with only the razor handle & safety cap? I've seen the blades sell for dirt cheap at walmart, this could be a way to get a smooth shave while traveling.

If you can spend $50 a month, go to a salon that does threading (eyebrows) and ask if they'll do your facial hair. They pull the hair out from the root, so instead of 2-3days, it takes 2-3weeks for Stubble to reappear. The session is about 20-30 minutes and somewhat painful but very worth it. Something else to mention, the place I went to, the esthetician was a strong 7-8, one of the hottest 30 year olds I'd ever seen in my life.

If you can't spend the money best option is to pluck them out with a tweezer, but that's time consuming (may take 2-3 hours)

Normal shaving (read: wet shave) causes the skin cells on your face to turnover. Fair amount of studies on this.

Also, using Google for stuff like this helps.
