He gave what passes for an apology in the media these days. That wasn't a real apology. He admitted that the scene was gratuitous, but also stated that Kirk was similarly unclothed in both movies. Then acknowledged that okay, you know I'm listening to the concerns of the fans, blah, blah, blah. This is typical PR nonsense that they have to address. So they just need to add some female characters, and make sure for every female underwear scene, there's a male underwear scene. Maybe add more love scenes too.

I loved the equality in "Starship Troopers," where females were in the infantry with men, and there was a great co-ed shower scene! HA HA!
