Guy Leaves $1000 Tip So Server Can Take Her Dream Trip to Italy

"Waiting tables is a generally thankless profession, unless you happen to have a particularly cheery disposition. Occasionally though, the humanity prevails to give one devoted waiter or waitress something that's not in the family of being sexually harassed. You know, like a really. big. fat. tip.

On Sunday, Tumblr user Casual Cynic posted this incredibly heartwarming story about her mother, who has been waitressing on and off throughout her life:

"ABOUT… 15 MINUTES AGO THIS GUY SHE WAITED ON LEFT AND TOLD HER TO TAKE CARE. JUST THAT. PRIOR TO THIS SHE HAD TALKED TO HIM ABOUT ITALY. HER PEOPLE ARE FROM FLORENCE, THIS AND THAT, AND SHE SAID SHE’S NEVER BEEN. SHE’S GOT 8 YEARS OF ART EDUCATION AND SHE’S WORKING A WAITRESS JOB. IT’S PRETTY… SAD AND DISAPPOINTING, I GUESS. HER AND MY FATHER DIVORCED 6 YEARS AGO AND SHE HASN’T HAD A REAL JOB EVER. JUST BEEN STUCK IN A SMALL TOWN SHE’S NOT FROM.

Let's be real, she divorced her husband and works as a waitress. She's ridden the cock carousel and left her husband after cheating on him. After the divorce she had fun for a few years but suddenly faced her expiration date. And for throwing her life away she deserves a grand from a random male customer, just because.

If I was super rich I'd do something like this. Just to rub in the fact that $1000 was worth nothing to me and to her the best experience of her pathetic life.

I didn't read the full article but I can't be the only one who thinks this is an awesome thing to do.

I love giving back to people and I would totally do this is I had the money. Nonetheless it would totally be for selfish reasons.

I give money to those who are not as fortunate to me under the condition that I feel good about myself for doing so.

If I feel the individual deserves it, then I am happy to shell out some cash to help someone struggling to get by.

It provides me with good karma and a great feeling that radiates throughout me the entire day.

This does not have to apply to only giving money, but helping people out in general. It is an easy way to make you feel good about yourself.

When you feel good about yourself it radiates throughout your behaviour and women pick up on this.

Positive momentum.

When you’re at their restaurant, they’ll act feminine and sweet, make eye contact, smile at you, actively participate in conversations, even unnecessarily touch you and flirt.

Don’t buy this crap. If they’re not doing this with you on the street or in grocery stores, it’s probably all just an act to get your money.

Valid point about the children's hospital. But for some reason you are automatically assuming several different things that I never even mentioned in my post.

The argument isn't who to give 1,000 dollars to if you could only give it to one party. It is based on the premise, if you had a lot of money would you do it. I stand by my first answer. Yes, I still would.

Secondly, you assume the waitress is some flirty chick who is trying to hustle this guy for money. I am aware that there are many waitresses that do this. HOWEVER...

I find that it's very problematic when people develop such narrow views towards large groups or types of people. It narrows your interactions with tons of different people that could otherwise bring meaningful value and experiences to your life.

Let's imagine you applied your narrow vision several times in a given day:

"Oh that guy's a corporate drone and is probably boring as hell"
Maybe he has a million bucks he wants to invest in your new business.

Or more pick up related...

"That chick behind the counter looks miserable working her minimum wage job, no point in talking to her"
Maybe she was horny as fuck and could be blowing you when she gets off work...

The list goes on and on and it limits the variety and quality of your daily interactions. Perhaps this is part of what has caused some of the bitter tone in your previous message.

I checked Alitalia

There are tickes for going to Italy in September costing 605 USD,597 USD for coming back. If she is so poor she can't pay the extra 200 USD,well,i guess there are cheaper airlines.

If I played and won the lottery, or I was a multi-millionaire or whatever, I'd do stuff like this. Part of me would love to do that, pick up a homeless dude off the street, take him to get cleaned up, get some new threads and stick him in a hotel for a week with a fridge full of food. I've bought a bag of shopping once for a homeless guy and he was so thankful for it, and I can't even describe the feeling I got from doing it. It was something pretty effortless I did, I spent about £10 in total on some sandwiches, chocolate and other things and it didn't really seem like a big deal to me until the guy couldn't shut up thanking me.
