How my mother's fanatical views tore us apart
This is an article written by Rebecca Walker, the daughter of author Alice Walker.

She's revered as a trail-blazing feminist and author Alice Walker touched the lives of a generation of women. A champion of women's rights, she has always argued that motherhood is a form of servitude. But one woman didn't buy in to Alice's beliefs - her daughter, Rebecca, 38.
Here the writer describes what it was like to grow up as the daughter of a cultural icon, and why she feels so blessed to be the sort of woman 64-year-old Alice despises - a mother.

Alice Walker, what a cunt. I love when women think having children will prevent them from becoming spinsters.

Nice find, I read the majority of the article. Damn, Alice Walker is a horrible mother and human being. It's appaling to get such a detailed description of how hardcore feminists raise their daughters. Though I'm actually surprised she managed to do it I applaud Rebecca for standing up to her mother while allowing her natural feminine side to flourish and embracing it. However, if you look closely you'll see she hasn't completely rejected her mother's teachings 100%. She has a son who's over three years old with a man (Glen) who she still hasnt married yet. She doesn't mention the reason why but I'm guessing despite rejecting Alice's feminist views, a small portion of her mother's hardwiring is still seered in Rebecca's brain. It could also be that Rebecca getting married could actually completely destroy her mother. Let's go with that.

"I believe feminism is an experiment, and all experiments need to be assessed on their results. Then, when you see huge mistakes have been paid, you need to make alterations."

dead on.

I think progressivism in its current form is basically an experiment, that boomers have callously subjected the next generation to. The results of that experiment which aimed for utopia, are completely dystopian (except for the boomers themselves, who are sitting on expensive assets, pensions, and liberty).

The reason the experiment continues, is due to boomer-created and funded social control mechanisms, basically were all being brainwashed through massive amounts of propaganda and outright force (control of the law, starving people who disagree through joblessness via social stigma) into ignoring/dismissing the dystopian reality. Boomers are dominating the younger generations, leading us off a collective cliff while they cash in their 7 figure government pensions fulled by student loan money and low-payed highly-taxed young person labour.

RE: How my mother's fanatical views tore us apart
Found some quotes from the article.

Quote:As a little girl, I wasn't even allowed to play with dolls or stuffed toys in case they brought out a maternal instinct. It was drummed into me that being a mother, raising children and running a home were a form of slavery.

Quote:My mother would always do what she wanted - for example taking off to Greece for two months in the summer, leaving me with relatives when I was a teenager. Is that independent, or just plain selfish?

Quote:with my mother's knowledge, started having sex at 13. I guess it was a relief for my mother as it meant I was less demanding. And she felt that being sexually active was empowering for me because it meant I was in control of my body.

Quote:My mother was the polar opposite. She never came to a single school event, she didn't buy me any clothes, she didn't even help me buy my first bra - a friend was paid to go shopping with me. If I needed help with homework I asked my boyfriend's mother.

Quote:she wrote me a letter saying that our relationship had been inconsequential for years and that she was no longer interested in being my mother. She even signed the letter with her first name, rather than 'Mom'.

Quote:Then I meet women in their 40s who are devastated because they spent two decades working on a PhD or becoming a partner in a law firm, and they missed out on having a family. Thanks to the feminist movement, they discounted their biological clocks. They've missed the opportunity and they're bereft.
Feminism has betrayed an entire generation of women into childlessness. It is devastating.

Real talk. My mom is 44 right now with 4 children and 7 grandchildren. She feels totally satisfied and happy with her life because she had a family, albeit not in the most ideal conditions. Women can say what they want about preferring careers over family, you can't fight your nature.

Wow. Walker failed at the most important aspect of parenthood - seeing your children happy. She resented, and competed with her own child, and even threatened to harm her writing career. She didn't even care if she was safe or healthy. What a bitter, angry, hateful bitch. Which is what feminism seems to do to so many women in the end.

Sounds like narcissistic personality disorder if she was that competitive with her own daughter. Realistically feminist ideology isn't what caused the behavior, it just enabled it.

Typical feminist I'd say. Feel for her daughter.

There's nothing typical about the feminism Walker has, and is practicing. Most women that would claim to be hardcore feminists marry and have children, yet don't shun or disown them to prove loyalty to the cause. Sure, feminism creates bitter cunts, but they're bitter because they rejected men and family during their prime years, and are now old and lonely with only pets and regret to keep them company at night. Walker is bitter and angry because...that's just who she is at her core.

RE: How my mother's fanatical views tore us apart
My own mother, a "groundbreaking politician" according to her claims, was exactly like Walker. Both of my sisters (who are in mid-50s) HATE her guts and will only grudgingly talk to her. Hate, hate, hate her with a passion.

I escaped most of it, because my mom the radical feminist simply ignored me completely and I hung with my dad and granddad, which was great.

Now I just sit back and chuckle while my mom and sisters go at it. Mother daughter cat fights. Steer clear.
