Back when buying music was common they would easily have been able to make a living by selling CD's out of the trunk of their car. Actually, one rapper did this and made a shitload but i forget who it was.

So once you get some good shit recorded hit up the local club managers and send them your stuff. Tell them you are interested in performing live.

Too $hort did this in Oakland in the 80s. When opening for national acts, he'd get the home crowd more worked up than the headliners could.

One of his marketing techniques was making songs for a specific hoods/gangs/leaders in the Bay Area. His work ethic has been on par with George Carlin and Louis CK in that he'd always come up with new material. To accomplish this, Too $hort never kept any master recordings. Once a run of cassettes sold out, that was it.

It's covered on The Champs podcast:
http://traffic.libsyn.com/thechamps/Too_...tput-1.mp3

"The whole point of being alpha, is doing what the fuck you want.
That's why you see real life alphas without chicks. He's doing him.

Real alphas don't tend to have game. They don't tend to care about the emotional lives of the people around them."

Rapping is DLV now days and this is comming from somebody whom used to be one.

Anybody can rap as its not hard to do. Just realize if it's your passion you won't any money for it for at least 4-6 years if your actually serious about it. There is no money in it all so if that's your end game stop yourselfl now while it's early.

You have to be good but even good rappers get overlooked while some can blow up really eart due social media and things going viral. People always say hey want to be the next A$AP, or Mac miller but both of them were dope and at least with A$AP put in the hours. Mac didn't. E ause he still pulls rookie mistakes like jacking beats and lines which is something you learn as you come up to stop doing.

Plus it's DLb because so many women are doing it. If any skill/trend/fad starts getting infiltrated with women whom are sub par at it the run. Back in the day the girls had to be as good if not better then or of the dudes. Hey ha to earn thier stripes way harder.

It only has trendy value with SWPL white kids but even then they are boerd with it. I'm so put off by modern rap. As its completely beta and limp wristed.

Not saying to not follow your dreams OP just make sure your passionate a out it because it's a lot of practice, paying dues, and time and effort with little financial incentives. If your cool with that then go for it. Because with time you will become good, becoming great requires other things but anybody IMO can become a good rapper with practice and effort.

Do you have charisma? How well do you perform on stage? Have you performed on stage? Seriously, if you had asked "can I be a singer" everyone would immediately tell you post a clip or video. Same thing with being a rapper. What do you expect, your just gonna get a bunch of useless feelgood comments or people telling you that you can't do it despite that fact that you have provided absolutely no information for anybody to actually form an educated opinion on the matter.

Minor point, I'm a computer engineer, not a software engineer. So it's hw and sw.
I'd say I have charisma, but I've never performed on stage. Perhaps I'll record something and post it soon.
