Duncan Keith is being put through the media wringer for some "sexist comment" after the Vancouver-Chicago game.

I think there should be a law where in order to be a sports reporter or referee you must have played at least two years of a college sport.

I agree. Hockey is tough as fuck and it is the only sport besides boxing and MMA where fighting doesn't result in some huge fine, suspension, or getting kicked out of the league.

There is alot of truth to this.

You learn a lot being tossed as a 17/18 years old into a town by yourself that looks like this - you grow up quick in those situations.

He says the same thing to a male reporter, even getting his face to be more intimidating I bet you'll never hear a word about it.

Queeny face gets something said to her and all of sudden it's a big 'ol deal.

I guarantee hockey players have said worse and more mean shit to male reporters. I used to work in sports in the 90's -- generally the hockey players are easily the coolest of the big professional sports (baseball, football, basketball, hockey) athletes, but anyone can have a bad day and most sports reporters are beta jackoffs, who are annoying as hell. I know. I was one.

I have an old friend who is a major sports journo -- you'd know him if I mentioned his name.

He says when he first got into the business, an old timer once told him in effect...

That is hilarious. I know Duncan personally and his brother plays on my hockey team. I would have never guessed in a million years he would have said something like that in public. Both brothers are fairly quiet and don't show a lot of emotion.

As for hockey players being the most Alpha of course I would have to agree. Another great thing about them is they are also the nicest guys out there. Most are down to earth and most of my friends that still play pro hockey come home during the off season and live at their parents. You would never guess they are millionaires and they aren't all flashy with entourages and shit. I guess that is why none of them go bankrupt after they retire.

I remember when Steve Sax played for the Yankees, and he was going through that spell where he couldn't hit the side of a barn with his throws to first base. Some female writer had the nerve to suggest solutions to his problem, and he replied something like, "If you don't tell me how to play baseball, I won't tell you how to have babies."
