Let me type that again, with annotations. Modeling scouts—known for weighing young girls in public like cattle and targeting down-and-out families, but perhaps not for exploiting the life-threatening delusions of sick teenagers—were gathering—in the plural, so more than one person thought this was okay—outside of Sweden’s largest eating disorder clinic. They were there to recruit anorexic girls to their agencies, because where else would you search for perilously skinny young women who are unlikely to put on weight? Anna-Maria af Sandeberg, chief doctor at the 1,700-bed Stockholm Center for Eating Disorders, told the Metro newspaper, “People have stood outside our clinic and tried to pick up our girls because they know they are very thin.” “It sends the wrong signals,” she added.


The Local reports that the clinic had to change when and where patients could take their daily walks around the grounds because girls kept getting approached. One 14-year-old was handed a business card; an agent interviewed another girl who was so emaciated that she had been confined to a wheelchair. When care coordinator Christina Lillman-Ringborg tried to explain to the scouts that her charges “suffered from a serious illness,” the article continues, quoting Lillman-Ringborg, “They claimed that they approach healthy, normally slim young people and that they never urge anyone to lose weight; that’s how they defended themselves.”

This may be just a bit much.

Can you blame the model scouts???

If they are going to invest the time and energy to market a client they should at least get a client who is committed to keeping the weight off and these girls clearly have a good track record of doing just that.

This picture demonstrates the kind of psychology most models need to keep their figures in line

I was once volunteering with a campus counseling group. One day, they had a formerly anorexic girl speak to us about her personal experience. The girl was beautiful, modest and intelligent; I'd never seen her before. I recall thinking she was the spitting image of some indie actress, maybe Shannyn Sossamon IIRC. She was also not in a sorority nor a frat groupie, and spoke well.



It was kind of ironic though, because here you had this pretty girl, telling a room full of lame chubby girls how bad anorexia is. You just knew that these girls were patting themselves on the back for not being anorexic. While I actually had respect for her, I couldn't help but hate that she was speaking, without any counter-message that being fat is no great shakes either.

I bet that hot girls are disproportionately drawn to anorexia. Especially hot but socially alienated girls.

In the future, America will be so fat that the only place to scout models will be in eating disorder clinics among the girls suffering anorexia.

I had a hot patient who had an eating disorder. She was way better looking than all my other patients. However, after you talked to her a while, you could see her teeth were a little yellowed considering her age, it was from forcing herself to throw up, the stomach acid fucks up your teeth. I also went over a girl's house who was bulimic before I understood the disorder, I wanted to make out with her but she felt too bad about her body which was absurd, her figure was excellent. I think eating disorder girls, at least that one, had the same disgust for sex as for food.. not a good feature in a lover.
