Seems to me, there are different interpretations of "bros before hoes". The way I see it...it means:

1) You don't throw your boys or ANY OTHER dude under the bus just for some pussy. Even if that chick talks bad about her ex...YOU ARE SUPPOSED to just nod your head and give no comment. Far too many times, I have found out the real story of the "ex" and often times saw both sides of the coin. Often times it was the chick's fault.

2) If you and one or more of your boys are trying to bang the same chick (which could happen if your group meets her group, etc), then abide by #1 above.

3) Don't cancel plans (multiple times) with your boys for some chick who is KNOWN to suck 5 different dicks per week. It is understood if the chick is your main girl that plans could change.

That was what I was brought up on.

I have always tried to take the attitude that a true friend isn't worth losing over a piece of ass, especially when that piece of ass is probably only going to be a temporary thing, while the friendship could potentially last for a long time and enrich your life long term. Otherwise it's guys, and I've experienced this with friends around here, being jealous, passive aggressive, running interference, stepping on toes, trying to "one up", etc. Shit, I had a melt down this past winter one night, when one of my main running partners kept weaseling his way into conversations I was having with girls that I had approached and been talking to for like 10+ minutes. He was stepping on my toes, while I always step back and give him space to operate, unless he's spitting at a group and needs a wing. Basically I deduced that he was hating and passive aggressively trying to cockblock me.

I could be overreacting, but another guy I thought was a good friend has been giving me the cold shoulder recently. He's banging this chick who is apparently now "best friends" with my psycho ex-GF who has BPD and straight up fucked up my life, and fucked me over. It sucks that I'm in a small town and social circles get crossed, but basically my "friend" is hanging out with my EX because she is always with the girl he is banging. I know I shouldn't give a fuck and life goes on, but this still really irks me and rubs me the wrong way. I expressed my displeasure to the guy, and it's not like I expect him to stop banging his chick, but he could make more of an effort to not actively hang out with my ex-GF.

Anyway, beyond all that bullshit, just on a general level, like I said, it just seems like guys are throwing each other under the bus for a piece of ass now a days. It's just fucked up how many supposed friends are lost over whack shit, like one guy fucking another guys girlfriend, or even trivial shit like one guy fucking a girl that his friend had a crush on. I thought loyalty and honor were supposed to be masculine characteristics that defined "solid" men, but it seems like that shit just doesn't really exist any more.

I was just thinking this while reading another post on the Opie and Anthony radio show. In one of their "comedy" bits, they get cheating bitches to call in so everyone can laugh at the men they're cheating on. This is the kind of media culture that ruins "bros before hos."

While Oprah, Tyra and all the rest are drumming up female solidarity, men are turning on each other like a bunch of little bitches.

As for me personally, I always helped my buddies get laid in college -- to the extent that they used to joke I was an old Jewish matchmaker in another life. And when a woman dumped my best friend out of the blue, I wouldn't even accept her friend request on FB many years later. Someone needs to teach these bitches (and besides, her pics were nasty -- Father Time had checked in by this point).

It's happened to me several times. Friends get mesmerized by the pussy and I never hear from them until they break up with the girl. It's funny because I can see the inevitable way before it happens, based on a simple fact: women grow to despise men they can control easily.

But to each their own, if that's the way they want to live their life so be it.

The problem of having guys step on your toes and cockblock annoys me much more. I'm not talking about random guys at a bar, but if a guy I know does it I simply don't hang out with him. It stems from jealousy.

I was hanging out with some friends I hadn't seen in a while. Now the cliffs version of the back story. A few years back I left a job to start a business which ended up not working out. Since then I've been working contracting positions at different companies, but not being hired permanently(this is common in my field.) Anyway my 'friend' in a condescending tone asks me whether I was permanently hired where I'm working. Mind you, my contracting jobs pay me a shitload more than he makes and this kid would never have the balls to put things on the line like I did. What annoyed me was the tone of his question, he was trying to make himself feel that he was better than me because he's been at the same shit job for 3-4 years. Let me make it clear that I don't have anything against pursuing a solid career path. Thing is, this kid is working a crap job, not making much, on no sort of career path whatsoever and being condescending towards me because of working temp jobs.

And that's the thing. We have an entire society of castrated males who secretly enjoy it when guys like us take a risk and fail, it reinforces their own sense of self...'See I made the right decision because look at what happened to him...clearly I'm better.' 'He's doing ok with that girl...hmm let me go mess with him, he doesn't deserve a girl like that.'

I don't seen how these guys can even call themselves men if they can't put things on the line and take a risk. Not stupid risks, but calculated risks that may yield a big reward.

My solution? I stopped talking to these guys. I have a loner nature so it doesn't bother me and I meet new people everyday. It's rare as hell to find like minded guys, but a lot of the guys on this forum are my inspiration, and that's really all that I need.

I'm getting to the age where my mates are getting whipped and pussified by girls a few points below them. Then again, if they're willing to settle for that then they deserve nothing better. At one point, i had some problems and i needed someone to talk to, and he wouldn't leave her just to have a chat with me. 2 weeks later he calls me in tears that she won't answer his calls anymore. Well said, it does boil down to character, but how many men have that nowadays? It takes a lot for a man to discover his character and its development is not influenced/defined by women. Most men will never make this realization. Hell, I've known about this for some time but only recently started to internalize it. And for that reason, they will continue to put women on pedestals and even though they might tell you upon a discussion that 'bros always come before hoes', they will always break it when the situation actually presents itself.

A close friend of mine who is a 'natural' and has always had success with women without even turning to game concepts was the first to tell me these exact words 'pussy comes and goes'. In the U.S. we are taught to not be elitist.

The truth is that you can only be friends with someone when you don't need something from him. There is no angle other than enjoying one another's company.

Everyone has ups and downs and you help when you can, but that's the primary purpose. You're not thinking, "Oh, this guy is rich. I'll be his friend so I can get bailed out if something goes wrong." That'll never be a true friendship.

So as with me, none of my friends would disappear because I would never disappear. Your friends are a mirror in that sense.

I screen for quality.

I've been friends with guys before they (and I) got married, still friends with them during the marriages, and we're still friends after our divorces.

No one has to cock block when going out because there's more than enough to go around. (When you're with a solid crew, there is incredible synergy.)

Good response MikeCF, I wish I could say that I have more close friends than I do, but it seems like the older I get, the harder it is to maintain friendships, let alone make new friends. There are a variety of reasons for this, most of my best friends have moved away, while time, and distance, has made us grown apart, in addition to just taking different paths in life and becoming different people.

Aside from growing apart with true friends, on a more general level, across the board, I feel like people are so self absorbed and so focused on benefitting themselves, that friendships turn into "what am I getting out of this situation". If I got a good work opportunity, or a hook up on concert tickets, or hanging out with a chick who has cute friends, then all of a sudden the homies want to hang out.

In some ways, I am the same way, but it's on a different kind of level, I am at the point now, where if you are a drain on me, or you don't provide anything positive in our friendship, I get no "value" out of it, than I'd rather not waste my time "trying" to be your friend. I won't say I got shit totally figured out, but I try to strive for "self improvement", and it can be frustrating when everyone else is so caught up in inactivity, laziness, negativity, etc., it's like I don't want to get "brought down" by their inertia.
