Has anyone ever heard of or used this web site called "meetup" for social networking/gaming? I've just heard about it recently from a few friends, and I guess they have it in most major cities. I'm not normally one to do stuff like that, but it sounds like it could be a good opportunity to meet some women that will most likely be single, have their guard down, and looking to have fun. I think in cities like SF, LA, NYC there probably are hundreds if not thousands of different groups, from stuff like hobbies, art, music, etc., and a lot of times these groups do wine tastings and pub crawls so alcohol is already in the equation. Unfortunately, from what I hear a lot of the women who go to these things are older and not the most attractive, but I'm sure there are a fair amount of decent ones too. Anyways, when I move to the city I want to hit the ground running after living in a small town for so long, I'm going to try to hit it from "different angles", online dating, clubs/bars, day game, and maybe this meetup business.

I haven't tried it myself, but I'm curious about the language meetups (Spanish, Portuguese, French, etc.). I imagine the girls who go will have travel experiences and be open-minded about meeting guys like us.
