Question How much worse will obesity get?
This is a scary map showing obesity rates over the years. My question is how much worse will the rates get as the years go by? Is it going to be up to 50% in 20 years? 75%? Another good business idea might be some "easy exercise" classes or programs that wont scare away the cows and make them feel proud of themselves.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
Obesity May Have Peaked

There is a growing realization that a grain heavy, low fat diet causse this massive explosion of fat gain. These projections about 75% of the population being obese will not happen because at least 10% of the population is very aware of the food they eat and therefore will always be at their optimal weight effortlessly. The pendulum is swinging back towards more sane ways of eating and I think we can see a drop in the obesity rates in the next several decades.

Here are a couple changes that would cost very little but cause immediate drops in the obesity rate:

Lard instead of vegetable oil used for frying foods like what was common before 1985. Lard is free or cheap in the market today.

Lard/palm kernel oil/coconut oil in processed foods instead of the ubiquitous vegetable oils

Inclusion of heart/liver/kidneys in certain processed meats. These are currently put into dog food. Our pets eat more nutritious food than we do.

Switch from whey protein eggs to real eggs.

Use fat based sauces instead of carbohydrate based sauces. Drench food in butter.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
It's already trickled down to college age girls.

They aren't obese, but they are carrying around a lot of weight that they weren't 20 or even 10 years ago.

From our perspective, it's going to get much worse - even if the number of people meeting the clinical definition of obesity has peaked.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
Based off of 0% fact and some personal experience I think people are going to start getting destroyed by medication/medical costs, lower quality of life and depression. To top it all off everyone they love will start dropping like flies at around 40. So my guess is that obesity will start declining in the next 20years as everyone from my generation realizes this.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
When cheap oil runs out, or when the American dollar goes to shit what ever comes first.

American fatness has been subsidized by cheap oil and its dollar being tied to that cheap oil.

No cheap oil no cheap food

No cheap American money no ability for the Gov't to add incentives for shitty food from being on American plates.

Its all energy at the end of the day if you think about it. Right now food producers are just making smaller boxes or un-healthier food but there will be a point when prices are the only thing they can change and then that's when America's eating habits will change.

How cheap can Mcdees make their burgers? There is a breaking point and I think they are close to it. Obesity won't peak but the price to get access to that shitty food soon will.

I'm proud to live in the skinniest state in the country. It's just too bad the girls wear too many clothes to be able to check out those nice bodies.

Yea, the freshman 15 used to get worked off by senior year. Girls knew they needed to make themselves attractive to increase the pool of interested suitors. Now girls are putting on the 15, and getting beat in the process from all the substance abuse(alcohol counts) and the cock carousel. You can see it in their face. I am class of 2014, don't get me wrong their are attractive girls in the senior class, but the most attractive girls are juniors and seniors(freshman are getting less attractive as admissions standards rise and more non-whites come in). I also go to a school with top talent, at least compared to other universities nationally, but the trend disturbs me, I can only imagine it is worse elsewhere.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
I agree with the college aged girls. They seem to be getting chubbier each year. Even walking past schools you see little porkers running around. I was one of a few "fat" kids in my school during elementary/highschool and what I was seems to be way more normal now than it was then.

These 2 girls are sisters. One is 22 the other is 18. Taken BEFORE the freshman 15 hit. This is the average difference I see between girls these days. (the one on the left isn't fat that dress is just cut weird)

I thought cheap food was the problem, too, and then I went to Iceland, where food prices were outrageous. And people there are still fat. People simply divert what money they have to the sugar and processed shit.

I predict that when the shit hits the fan and food gets scare, the skinny man will hunt the fat man.

Step 1: Subsidize corn

Step 2: Spread propaganda that butter and cream are bad

Step 3: Go after cheese, bacon, whatever tastes good that has subbed for butter and cream

Step 4: Tax "snacks", HFCS, whatever

Step 5: Take over every little aspect of the economy and people's lives

I don't think we've reached the peak yet- that may take another 10- 15 years or so

I don't see any major change until a drastic, long term economic and political shock occurs that drastically affects food prices and availability and the social order as a whole

What's killing things are the fat acceptance movements. There's a strong "fatness = greatness" mentality in the feminism movement also.

I only see obesity increasing from here on out.

At least as bad as current equipment will allow. They are having to make airline seats bigger, hospital beds bigger, E.R. chairs bigger, and now trampolines.

It will only continue to get worse. The saturation point will be when insurance companies absolutely refuse to insure the fatties.

While forwarding the cost onto the consumer. Thanks fatties.

RE: How much worse will obesity get?
I saw a show about the rise of McDonalds and fast food, and in this show, I remember someone saying that what you are tasting in the food are manufactured additives that are used for preservation and quality control. In a nutshell, what you're tasting is not the meat from the burger, or the potato from the fries, but the chemical that a company like DuPont has manufactured to emulate the taste of what french fries are "supposed" to taste like.

Now not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I thought...what if you could develop a food additive with a chemical chain that produces a stimulative effect on the brain? We know that hard drugs like amphetamines and heroin re-wire the brain, but what about something as simple as a burger?

I mean...I read stories like this and I think that chemically, something has got to be going on:

http://www.thatsfit.com/2010/03/30/fast-...dies-find/

So...we come round about to...how much worse will obesity get?

I think it gets a lot worse, until we come to that point where we realize that fast food is a drug. I'm not making the argument that we need to regulate the industry or place bans on sugary sodas or anything like that, but I am saying that exposing young kids to all this stuff could have the same effect as giving them smokes or alcohol at a young age. The monkey only gets harder to shake as you grow up. The only ones who beat the habit are those who don't get exposed to it or those who are pre-disposed to resisting the food's effect.

You could even test this economically. You'd think that fast food would be fairly price elastic, but compared to other foods...relatively more inelastic.

"Despite their numbers, their pussyness means I was barely hurt. 2 black eyes and a cut nose, no big deal. I could sense the fear in them so as they were walking I chased them down and told them to "go home". They all left like little girls." - Revelations 21:4

This fast-food joint just opened up close to where I live. The name seems rather inappropriate (even though most of our fast-food is still healthier than yours) - lots of deep-fried stuff, but also grilled, and not a ton of carbs or fizzy drinks because it's eaten on the go.

I fucking hate that shit. Where they basically equate becoming unattractive as empowering. We know the reasons they do this too.

It would be great if transport companies started charging fat people more which may force a change in these fatties minds that life is going to get harder. I think it's Air Samoa that have started this off.

The photos durangotang posted aren't even of people particularly out of the ordinary now. You'd see at least a few of those types waddling through any city in the Anglosphere.

I'm sitting in work now, and I just realised out of the 7 women I can see right now, 5 are overweight and 1 of those 5 would be classed as obese. Possibly even 2 of the 5 if I was being less lenient. These are the ratios into which I am expected to "man up" and marry into. Fuck that.

I've been tracking how many girls I'm seeing as creditable targets on the street. It's pretty damn low.
