I registered to answer this question, have a few thousand skydives anda few hundred basejumps. Would have said skip the tandem. Fully immersing yourself in the skydive community is a red pill all its own. I know guys that rolled up in luxury cars wearing suits that were living in a tent packing parachutes for jump money within a year. Some of them never go back to the world. Enjoy the ride.

Just registered. I have close to 400 freefall jumps from a long time ago. USPA Class C license, and back then what was called a "Jumpmaster" rating. SCR and SCS awards. Also US Army Airborne school. No longer skydiving as other hobbies have taken its place.

Wanted to update this. You guys weren't joking about this addiction. I'm at my DZ right now. Guys are camping in tents, some in trailers and are just to get their fix.

As an aside, some bird that hasn't really responded to me sent me a text and i simply said 'can't talk, skydiving'

She won't stop texting me now.


Which also tells me i need to tighten my game.

Nice Zeus, how many jumps are you up to now.

Whats the name of the DZ your using and what are the prices like on doing your AFF/a hop and pop etc

Also what kind of aircraft are ya jumping out of?

Love skydiving. Nothing like it.

Only been twice and both times tandem, but what an amazing feeling. Perma-grin for hours afterwards. Might have to pull it together this year and bring it to the next level; it has been years since my first couple jumps.

An update for this thread. I've done my AFF and am working towards my A license which is 25 jumps.

Tomorrow I have to do a hop n pop at 4000' which I'm not looking forward to. Other than that, the buzz your body gets for the whole day is pretty incredible.

I would recommend everyone at least doing a tandem.

How to you know there is a skydiver in the room.....he'll let you know

I've never been skydiving, just static line in the military. Still, loads of fun. My first jump I was shaking like a maraca with adrenaline when I hooked up.

Skydiving is on my list of hobbies to get into. I want to put my money into building a racecar first, though, so it's going to have to wait a couple years unless I get a really sweet gig next year.

I highly recommend people do stuff like this, just step way outside the comfort zone and try new stuff. It does wonders for your confidence.
