Nice. I bet it's expensive though. How much is it, ya know?

Careful. Before long, your kids might be telling you about how Jesus rode a dinosaur and about how the North American continent was "empty" when Europeans arrived.

Seems like home schooled kids would be weird and not know how to socialize with anyone their own age.

Clearly there isn't a market for their common sense, data-driven curriculum when our public education system is such a smashing success

My kid is going to go to snooty private school (preferably day school, but possible boarding for high school) where he can smash high-end tail and make connections with elite children and their families. I need that little fucker to be able to throw a punch, start a conversation, play sports, all that shit. I don't need to be programming him about the "downfall of Western Civilization."

I'm not saying I'm for or against homeschooling my future kid, but I would love to send a boy of mine to a private school teaching this stuff. And I would love to able to afford a good Christian school for my future daughter.

Anyway, there are ways of remedying this "weirdness." If a person loves his family enough, he'll move into a like-minded homeschooling community and arrange all their kids to spend a few hours together like a park or place of worship. Not just playing, but also doing some collaborative learning and project building.

Public Education systems seem to be doing very well in most Western European countries. That doesn't mean that we can have the same success. Their's way more of us. We're much bigger. Are very diverse. Very spreadout. Very stubborn and egotistical as a people.

That's awesome. I'm glad you can make that happen for your kid. I hope to provide a private education for future kids too.

The rooshv curriculum would include number crunching, heavy amounts of foreign language, 3 times as much P.E as kids get in the schools, and plenty of science experiments with baking soda.

I don't know what your particular beliefs are and I'm not really one to mock what other people believe, but the guy behind the Ron Paul curriculum is a kook.

He's been prophesizing the downfall of western society for the past thirty years and been making his living selling books and other survival aids. It seems like he went all in on Y2K and made some bank on that as well

Plus the dude is basically an outspoken critic of religious freedom. Rather, he thinks that religious freedom is a good tool for resisting other religions, but eventually wants to establish a fundamentalist Christian theonomy.

It's cool of that's your thing, but it sounds no fun to me.

RE: Free self-taught homeschooling for kids (Ron Paul)
Homeschooling is great academically. Most homeschooled children know a heck of a lot more than their public school (or even private school) counterparts. Women have an innate biological gift for this sort of thing. For thousands of years, children learned most of what they needed to know about the world from their family, especially their mother when young. (Yet another reason why one must choose one's wife and the future mother of one's children extremely carefully.) In the West, where most people are literate, this results in knowledgeable kids, not illiterate future peasant farmers. It is better for girls than for boys though, especially after the elementary school years. As boys get older, they have much more of a need to be "socialized," to be around other boys and adult men, to play sports, to fight, to learn to drink, smoke, and chase tail, etc. Homeschooled boys (who aren't eventually sent to a boarding school or something for high school) in my experience end up either as complete betas, or rebel and go nuts. Homeschooled girls, on the other hand, don't seem to benefit as much, if any, from being around other girls at school. It just brings out their catty traits. They're quite happy staying at home with mom and their sisters to read books, cook, sew, etc.

When I eventually have children, I will probably be living someplace where I'll have no realistic choice except to homeschool. If there's a decent private school around and I can afford it, I might go that route. Under no circumstances, however, would I send my children (or anyone I liked, for that matter) to a public school. They're basically just tools that the government uses to give everybody a standard dose of propaganda and stifle spirit and creativity in order to preserve the status quo.

All the people I've met who were homeschooled having been weird, and all the private school kids got picked on and chased home in my neighborhood growing up. Anecdotal? Yes. Common? Likely.

If you are going to impose your will on the world, you must have control over what you believe.

I agree with Houston. Even though our education system is a joke, I don't agree with home schooling. I met almost all my friends growing up through school. I think keeping your kid out of the public education system is depriving them of a childhood in a way. I knew a few kids that either home schooled or private schooled (Tiny private school) when they were younger and then their parents enrolled them in public high school. Most of them were very relieved to finally be represented in their pier group.

So even though you agree the education is shit, you still think it's worthwhile -nay, almost obligatory, to subject kids to it purely for social reasons?

Public school is the reason your sons will be adherents to whatever PC ideology-du-jour is current in 20 years, and your daughters will learn to post twerking videos of themselves at 12 years old. No thanks...

I'm sending my kid to an all-boy's private school until he's 14 or even 16. There's no sense messing up the poor child with stupid apology shit and feminism, those scars last for life.

He's going to lift weights and learn gymnastics, and hopefully end up captain of the football team or something similar. He's also definitely going to get a home schooled grasp of calculus by the time he's 12, and use supermemo on the regular. I've seen what happens when you neglect a mathematical education until college, and it's not pretty.

RE: Free self-taught homeschooling for kids (Ron Paul)
If homeschooled kids are/were awkward socially that's a failure on the parents, not on homeschooling in general. Besides, look at all the failures of public and private schools walking around today... and look at all the socially awkward kids IN public schools.

People with kids who are hardcore against homeschooling are generally not very confident in themselves or simply lazy and full of excuses. Most parents these days suck. Combined with an education system that is purely for creating mindless robots molded into whatever political whims are popular at the time and an entertainment/media culture that is a disgrace to normalcy and decency... most of their public school kids will turn out to be losers/followers. Only the rare self-confident independent minded kids will get through that nonsense unscathed.

As for me personally, I'm confident in my abilities as a parent to homeschool my kids and have them turn out to be exceptional. Especially since I stack advantages and feed them mostly organic foods and keep them away from all the man-made chemicals that are destroying most kids mentally and physically today.

Again for me personally... my 5 year old can do 20 consecutive non-stop pull-ups, has blazing speed because of the rigged up prowler I have him push, and taking his punches isn't pleasant (and I'm 230 pounds of muscle). Can't see how he'd be awkward around fat/stupid kids who would be in awe of his superior abilities. Not worried about him (or my other son) being awkward, but if you're worried about your kids or future kids being awkward from homeschooling that may say more about you than your child. Smile Plenty of different non-religious homeschooling programs to choose from and plenty of ways to socialize your kids with others kids that doesn't involve sending them to a school.
