I remember as a kid...always looking up to guys who had a clever way of expressing a negative idea. Making something look ridiculous and doing it well.

Example, an uncle of mine was once getting annoyed by the Best Buy salesman trying to sell him a Gateway computer back in the mid 90s. It finally came down to him saying "Gateway uses a piece of a cheese for the processor". I was only a middle-schooler, but I was very amused by it and always liked how this particular uncle of mine said what was on his mind, even if he could be bit brash at times. He once told a Burger King drive thru..."this Burger King might be the slowest one I've ever been to, next time remind me to bring my sundial".

I've noticed one of the huge efforts to make men beta stats young. "Timmy don't say anything negative". "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all". Part of the reason why this generation has less alphas is this. Boys are taught to act like such pansies via this "don't say anything negative" routine, and girls are applauded at the weakest sign of bitchiness (although I think confident/tough/bitchy female behavior get convoluted sometimes when they can be different).

What isn't understood, sometimes you have to say things that are going to piss people off. I think society is upset they cannot turn all boys into huge pansies as well. If they had a magic wand - they would.

Anyways, it's personally one of my favorite hobbies to make things look ridiculous when it is deserved. I was told not be like this, but there was no stopping me.

I remember late in high school calling "The Green Mile" a terrible movie, which I still believe to this day. Certain people nearly cried over that. Like "How dare you put that movie down!". I didn't care...everyone was talking about how amazing it was, and I didn't think so. Conventional wisdom would tell you to not say anything at all, or blissfully agree.

Good points. I've noticed by Alpha brother scolding one of his boys for "namecalling." I reminded him that as a kid he had nasty little names for everyone, like "Large Marge," "Sour Face," "Lurch," "Fat Boy," etc... How soon we forget.

Some time ago I was drinking with one of my buddies who always plays the straight man to my bullshit. I don't even remember what I'd been ranting about but he said to me "<ikkyu>, have you ever in your life actually tried liking something?". I laughed my ass off.

Even though this guy got banned, this thread still has its purpose.

But people shouldn't mistake "speaking their mind" with being a pessimistic asshole. Calling out something negative only carries weight when you are a generally positive guy. No one wants to be around a downer.

I know enough guys who complain about everything. It isn't "alpha" to make a catty remark to the minimum wage Burger King drive through worker. It's called being a dick.

If you aren't a complainer, speak your mind about the negatives. Just don't let it turn into incessant bitching.
