I think it's pretty obvious that most politicians are shitheads; so you have to choose the best one for you. Given I live in the UK perhaps cons or UKIP. I am mainly libertarian so this makes more sense to me

Literally a defining moment in my adult life was crossing over to the Libertarian side. But I mean really thinking freely. It is so hard (if you are raised in the USA) to NOT place an idea or ideal into either the "conservative" or "liberal" slot. The 2 party system sets you up, and influences your ideology, to the point where you write anything off as "fucking liberal hippie" or "George Bush war-mongering" I still struggle with pre-conceived ideas of which believe belongs to each party...go with what your gut believes! So my 2 cents is to try to think of a concrete reason you agree with something, and not go along with the said parties mandates.

Shop at whole foods and love organic food, but also agree you have the right to own a gun. Or someother "contradictory" shit. If you know WHY you believe in something, that is more than most fo the population

The problem is: that if UKIP (and Nigel Farage) get more votes they will generally come from ex-conservative voters. This will result in the centre-right vote being split between two parties ensuring that labour and lib dems do better. Keep in mind Labour is already the favourite.

So voting UKIP is self defeating. Sometime i think I will just vote labour so they can waste money and turn everyone against them; they're also very pro-immigration which could be beneficial in terms of hot foreign bitches.

I'm a US citizen (though I don't live in the US) and I consider I identify more with the likes of Ron Paul and Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, etc. So I guess I'd be a Conservative Constitutionalist.

I've been following the the gun confiscation thing the last few months and I couldn't identify myself as a liberal. They say they're liberals but they want to restrict the rights given to americans?

Monarchist in theory, but given that that's sadly about 250 years out-of-date in this country, if I had to pick an American political party I'd have to side with the Libertarians, Constitutionalists, or the right-wing fringe of the GOP.

Most career politicians in a democracy are spineless slaves to the mindless whims of public opinion, and the planks of the political parties they form are as apt to change as the breeze. Every successful political party today is a study in compromise, in casting away principles to appeal to the broadest spectrum of voters possible, which means the choices in any national election never boil down to "good or evil," but rather, "evil" and "very slightly less evil."

I'm UKIP. That doesn't mean I am some xenophobic Europhobe - I adore continental Europe. I love the fact I can fly south for a few hours and be in a Latin country like Italy or Spain, fly East for a bit and be in Eastern Europe etc. I hate the whole "diversity" buzz-word as it usually means something I deem a negative, but the diversity of Europe as a whole is very appealing.

However, I am anti-EU. I don't think Europeans, as a whole, should be ruled by a bureaucratic totalitarian institution stuffed full of Maoists. Both for those reasons, but also due to the fact that what a German wants, is probably different to a Croat, or a Spanish person, just at what they want will be different to a Brit or Cypriot etc.

That's a big part of the problem with the U.S - it is probably too large to be governed centrally.

Edit - That said, I often flutter between ideologies. UKIP just fits me best out of the choices on offer. Sometimes I even espouse Fight Club-esque Darwinian anarcho-primitivist ideals, a 'back to nature' philosophy - but that's probably because I'm a disenfranchised young man constantly battling forces willing my emasculation.
