The utility companies and their unionized workers will lobby governments to outlaw these. The makers of fluorescent bulbs and their unionized workers will lobby governments to outlaw these. Studies are likely already underway that will produce breathless, hysterical """evidence""" about why these are unsafe and harmful to the environment. Welcome to Western Civilization.

Sad but true. Instead of out-foxing the competition, they outlaw it instead.

Yeah it kinda struck me the same way. Same way I feel about Tesla Motors and Elon Musk.. A lady at a convenience store had pieces of paper with nano light bulb written on them and was giving them to customers. She was pretty passionate about it and I could see it. I didn't realize it was earth day, didn't even hear a thing about it until she mentioned. Another customer rolled her eyes at her and didn't take one while I was there. Too bad she was old and saggy.. If she was a hot blonde I would be convinced there is a god.

Seen this some weeks ago. I don't think the pessimism is warranted here. The lights are LEDs positions in an optimized geometry. No studies have shown LED light to be dangerous in any way. They are legal. We are not at Sovjet-style irrationality.

I personally find LED Christmas tree lights annoyingly to look at. I'm not sure how this would be any different that taking a string of 20 LED christmas tree lights and wadding it up into a light fixture. Which is all they seem to have done.

It might impress someone in the cult of TED. For anyone else that's actually worked with their hands and fixed a light socket or two in their life, there isn't any value add here.

Yeah id hope this is how its received. Just takes one corporation to buy out the rights and delete it from history though.
