They're paid $1000/month and get to fly around Europe, a pretty decent gig for a poor girl from Ukraine.

Absolutely! For that salary no wonder they're showing so much passion.
Take a look at this article: Quote:Femen has a five-member board of directors. In 2008, when topless protests were a novelty in Ukraine, Hutsol got a call from publisher Jed Sunden, the owner of KP Media.
“Jed was the very first influential person who noticed us, helped us with all the resources he had, gave use some useful advice, generously donated and said we were special. Jed was the very first person who helped us in organization’s promotion and creation of our website. We used to call him a ‘Femen Post’ [a play off of the Kyiv Post newspaper, which Sunden sold last year],” Hutsol said.
Sunden acknowledged he is more than a fan of Femen.
“I confirm that I do give money to Femen,” Sunden said. “I will not state the amount. After meeting with Anna Hutsol, I was impressed with her ideas and have been a supporter. I believe Anna is a young, independent voice in Ukraine. While I do not agree with all of her positions, I believe it is important to give her, and groups like hers, support.”http://www.kyivpost.com/content/politics...65379.html
His net worth is estimated at $16.5 million. http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/...85484.html

This is a strange comment I don't get. So everyone who disobeys laws should be punished?
I think half the laws out there are wrong and should be disobeyed. And I'm talking about laws regardless of western Muslim or eastern country. Many laws are created only to keep those in power in power and have nothing to do worth the well-being of the individual.
Do you mean to say instead "if someone breaks a law that I agree with he/she should be punished"?

RE: Topless Tunisian Feminist Protestor Threatened To Death By Stoning
Whether or not a law is good or bad, if a law says not to do something, and there are big penalties attached, it's pretty much common sense not to do it, or at least not to get caught, and certainly not to flaunt the lawbreaking in public. This is especially true when there is no natural need for it. Nobody forced her to take her shirt off and write vulgarities on herself. In Singapore, drug trafficking is punished by death. One might disagree with that law, but would you really be stupid enough to try to smuggle weed in, just to make a point?
Besides, the impetus behind these laws in Tunisia is a wholesome one. Without doubt, a higher percentage of Arab and North African men have good, loyal wives, who were virgins when they got married, because female attention whoring and gratuitous public sluttiness are not tolerated in their culture. Objectively speaking, for the good of their society, such laws make sense, and all cultures used to have them.
This girl's actions represent a deliberate and public "fuck you!" to her culture, and given that the men in her culture still have balls, it is not surprising at all that she is being punished. I am sure she was not ignorant of the possible consequences.

"Common sense" is not how repressive, ignorant elements of society get changed. Rosa Parks should have caved in and gotten off the bus? There's no progress without nonviolent civil disobedience.
Why are you silent on the boobs who are advocating KILLING her for this?
Do you really think the Arabs can keep the suffocating restrictions on women they have now? Seriously, do you think that can continue, and would you want it to?
Even the Saudis with their repulsive morality police who go around bullying women physically ( and I don't mean the bullshit like that Pycon cunt complained about) are liberalizing because they know it can't last.
If you don't like women ( I often don't much) and think they're inferior, at least beat them in a fair fight of intellect and effort, not ignorant bullying.

RE: Topless Tunisian Feminist Protestor Threatened To Death By Stoning
A) The whole Rosa Parks thing, if memory serves, was a pre-planned operation, not a spontaneous act. It and the subsequent events had the effect of inflaming racial tensions dramatically, and was perhaps not the best way to go about effecting change, if the aftermath which we see today is any indication. But I digress.
B) I am not an advocate of revolution. Counter-revolution? When appropriate and feasible, but revolution, no. I think much of the evil and bloodshed of the last couple of centuries has come about because of revolutions, and as much as I disapprove of sharia law, I think Middle Eastern society would be changed for the worse if this girl's ideas become mainstream in her country. Really, it is too much to dignify them with the title of "ideas," as if she is some repressed freedom-fighting intellectual. She is a rebellious, empty-headed girl who probably has mental issues, craves attention, and her "message" is simply one of rebellion for rebellion's sake, and "empowerment" of women, in the worst Western ways. True freedom is the freedom to choose the good, not for society to bless every evil inclination.

I'll respectfully ask, what do you mean by "...not the best way to go about effecting change, if the aftermath which we see today is any indication..."?
inb4thisbecomesanotherraceflamethread
By the last part there, you seem to have answered the question yourself. We don't worry about race flame threads when matter-of-factly discussing, say, Indonesians and Filipinos. Brazil and other countries had slavery too, and "racism" really isn't a big issue. There's classism, sure, and those classes are largely delineated along skin-tone lines, but inflammatory racial rhetoric is not really part of the question the way it is in the United States. I think there are probably very few true "racists" in the US anymore (maybe on Stormfront and some older people who haven't travelled much, but that's probably about it) but it is nevertheless an enduring and divisive "issue." I think this would not be the case if things had naturally been allowed to take their course in the 1860s and 1960s, instead of being urged onward by zealous agents of social change, many of whom had vested class-warfare interests.
But we're rather getting off the subject of Tunisia, so that's all I'll say on the subject.

Are you serious?
Should the Rosa Parks have been public flogged? Especially since it was a pre-meditated operation, according to you. How about the "Freedom Riders"? Was it just for black teenagers who looked at a white women to be lynched?

I think Middle Eastern society would be changed for better if these were the issues that became mainstream there, because in order for that to happen sharia law would have to have been done away with.
I mean, these ideas could not be spread if they are still publicly stoning people to death for disagreeing with the status quo.
So if having to deal with the bullshit feminism that's so prevalent in the West is the price of making Arab countries more free, then yes, I am all for that.

As obnoxious as she's behaving - if she were a Western woman I'd turn my nose up at her - this doesn't warrant a flogging or being stoned. Anyone who thinks this isn't any better than the idiot feminists on Jezebel howling about rape culture and male privilege; you've gone too far down your own rabbit hole to make any goddamn sense.
Besides, ask yourselves how many SNLs you'd get if hooking up with you meant capital punishment.
I don't think anybody stands behind Sharia Law.
Instead they are all saying that this woman is stupid for protesting this way, knowing full well the rules and the consequences of breaking them.
People act with shock about how this is a stone able offence. I act with shock at how stupid this woman is.
Just because someone thinks weed laws are unjust in the U.S., doesn't mean it isn't stupid to protest by lighting up a doobie in front of a police station.

So should the Freedom Riders, MLK, Rosa Parks, etc. have just not protested at all?
Maybe I could have worded it better, but you're missing the point. When you break the rules, you should not be shocked when you reap what you sow.
A lot of people read this and say, "My god! A woman getting stoned for baring her naked breasts! The barbarians!". Maybe it is barbaric. But that is how things work over there. It is normal to them. You do X, Y happens.
The guy I was responding to, was conflating thinking this girl was silly for baring her breast knowing the consequences for supporting the sharia law that sets these consequences in place.
