Incidentally, I think this has to do with the combination of the low initial tolerance for trolls and the first-of-the-month enrollment policy. The fact that you get perma-banned for dumb shit early-on ensures that few problematic members stick around to require on-going moderation.

I also think we're one of the most sophisticated communities on the web when it comes to troll identification. I'm impressed with how quickly guys drop one of these into a suspicious thread:

I think it's actually the reverse: we all park our "alpha" for the sake of the community. Alpha posturing is what often gets people banned around here. The intolerance of big-baller "alpha" talk from the membership is a big factor in keeping this a clean, safe space for us (feminist talking-point intended).
