Toluca de Lerdo Data Sheet
In my most recent trip to Mexico City, I also went to Toluca de Lerdo for 3 days. It's an industrial town about an hour away from Mexico City. It's also the capital city of the state of Mexico. I saw potential there, but I didn't figure out the city in the time I was there.

Weather:

It's chilly, and it rains frequently. Supposedly, the name Toluca comes from the Aztec rain god Tlaloc. I don't doubt it.

How to get there:

I took a bus from Terminal Central del Norte. It cost me around 50 pesos and took an hour. There's also an airport that Spirit Airlines flies to.

The girls:

The girls were good looking and almost zero fatties. They are very receptive to foreigners and were very interested in what I was doing there. My answer- I want to see the volcano. Spanish is absolutely necessary because they don't really speak English. I only met one girl who spoke good English. They are more conservative than the girls of Mexico City though. It was a lot harder to get them to go home with me than the girls in DF.

Nightlife:

Vendome- This is the best nightclub in Toluca. It's actually in a mall near Metepec, another city. A cab there from Toluca was 70 pesos at night. I don't know the cover for the club, because the night I went there was a concert that I didn't have tickets to. I slipped a bouncer 300 pesos to let me in (which was probably more than the actual price). There were a lot of young hotties in the club, though I was surprised by the amount of older women in the club. I went there on a Thursday, and that's supposedly the best night there.

La Estacion- A bar with most people seated with friends. Pass

La Regina- A club with a half-seated, half-standing crowd. Party wound down around 2. It was alright.

Vendome was the best venue I went to, and the party went until around 4. However, the concert took away a large chunk of time meant for gaming. The crowd cleared out of the other places earlier.

Metepec also has some good cantinas for starting your night. Lots of colorful locals who don't really see foreigners plus cheap booze. Check for garañona, a green liquor made with herbs. Delicious.

Daygame:

I don't daygame, but it might be your best option in the city. I saw some cuties walking around in the city. It might be hard because of the chilly and rainy weather.

There's not much to do there during the day. I would recommend going to the nearby volcano, Nevado de Toluca. It's absolutely beautiful, although the altitude left me short of breath. It was snowing when I went there. You have to take a taxi to the top. They are group taxis, so you share it with others. On the ride back to Toluca, the taxi (a normal sedan) had seven adults in it.

Good stuff. Thx for that input. Logistically speaking, where would you recommend staying in Toluca? Where did you stay?

The discount flights via Spirit from American cities now all land in Toluca, which is about an hour away from Mexico City.

Advantage - Cheap flights..as low as $180.00 Round Trip (Minus baggage fees) depending on your city.
Disadvantage - As you mentioned really small taxis from Toluca so going with a group of 3 other guys like I did via uncomfortable cab ride from Toluca to DF = ugh. Cab ride is about 5-600 pesos from Toluca to DF each way so in a sense might be worth it to fly into the main international airport within the city for 3-400 USD if you can.

Some Lithuanian chick visiting Mexico City also landed in the same airport we did. In a friendly manner, she asked me if she could share a cab. Geez, I'm sure the cab ride with her would've been more comfortable than sharing a backseat with 2 other guys....unfortunately had to decline bc of no cell phone, bad logistics, not to mention we had to pick up our apartment keys in a different location before setting up shop in our actual apt.

I stayed in an apartment I found on airbnb. It was located close to the center of town, near the stadium. It wasn't great for logistics, but your logistics are going to be less than optimal. All of the nightlife seemed to be spread around. Vendome, the best nightclub in the area, is located in a goddamn mall, so you're going to need to take a cab there. I think a cab is going to be necessary to get anywhere at night. They're cheap though. Even when they're trying to rip you off, you won't pay more than 100 pesos. Cabs during the day are even cheaper, around 30 pesos.

Your best bet in Toluca would be the center, because you're everything is spread out. Metepec also wouldn't be a bad choice either. There's also a university part of Toluca. But I didn't go there, so I can't really talk about it.

Take a cab ride to the Toluca bus station and then a bus from there to Mexicos City's west (Observatorio) bus station.

Its 50 pesos and has buses leaving every 30 minutes.

Bacchus: just to coment on how different things can be for different guys, my experience in Toluca is way the opposite of yours: ugly girls, crap logistics, and shitty clubs.

I've spent 3 weeks there: a 1 week trip and a 2 weeks trip several months later. I had the same experience as germanico.

Toluca is pretty fucking boring. Besides hanging out at the Galerias Mall in Metepec there is nothing to do there. The weather is shitty, it is overcast, raining, or cold almost all the time.

Logistics are terrible with everything far away from everything else. Fortunately, taxis are reasonable.

The girls are substandard. The girls I know there are reasonable but no one was above a 7. Typically, most girls in Toluca are either fat, ugly, or both. There are hot girls, like mentioned above, at the university the girls are a lot more attractive than everyday girls you see.

@ germanico- I don't think that your experience was that different than mine. I'm saying decent girls, terrible logistics, and one good venue at night. I'm saying they're decent because even the better looking ones were curious about what I was doing there.

I would agree that Toluca is boring too. During the day, I didn't see too many girls above a seven, however that changed at night.
