Webcam Security
I just learned yesterday that you can hijack peoples webcams and that you can use google to search for unprotected webcams.
Is that a legitimate threat? If so, how can I protect myself against that kinda thing?
I mean, Id like some privacy when jerking off...

Tape a piece of paper over the lens when not in use.

RE: Webcam Security
Those webcams that are searchable are badly configured, and generally stand-alone cams with their own IP addresses.

So first make sure your webcam is properly configured. Second make sure you don't have any viruses or spyware on your computer. Third tape over it. That way you'll be pretty sure. I believe most webcams have a light that comes on when it's on, which apparently is very hard to circumvent. So if the light isn't on you should be fairly safe.

RE: Webcam Security
If you're talking about the sort of thing you plug into your USB port or that is in your laptop display then you're fine.

The ones that are getting hacked into have their own wifi/ethernet connection AFAIK

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.
